Black Squirrel Scholars Staff

(Managers, Reviewers, Editors, Designers)

Mikeal Korpi

Mike has always used sketching and photography as a means to express himself, and to show people how he thinks and feels. Writing is something new, but has given Mike another way to express even more of his imagination and the world that resides in his brain.

His passion for helping others led him to joining the awesome group involved with Black Squirrels Scholars, and he hopes to create something that everyone is proud of.

Samantha Wehr

Samantha is a new member to the team this year and has found herself very excited to be in the 2023 Black Squirrel Magazine. You can always find her wrapped up in a book of any kind and willing to talk about it for hours.

She also uses poetry as a way to express her thoughts as well. Both writing and reading has created a way of escaping reality and cannot express her love enough for both. She believes by sharing her love and appreciation for literature, that perhaps she can inspire others as well.

Sara Evelyne

Sara Evelyne, an upcoming Kent State University graduate, concentrates her studies on the intersectionality of mental health and inequalities. As a traumatic brain injury survivor, mental health advocate, and facilitator, Sara writes to offer hope and give a voice to vulnerable, underrepresented, and neurodiverse individuals.

Eliviya Reed

Eliviya is a Senior at Kent State University, and this is her first year being apart of the Black Squirrel Scholars team! When she isn't working or focusing on school, she spends most of her free time writing new story ideas, reading a book, or lounging around with her pets.

Her goal while being apart of the team this year is to ensure that all kinds of literature receive a space and and an opportunity to be seen and heard.

Clohe Young

Clohe is an English major with a focus on editing and is in her sophomore year. When she is not helping students at the Salem campus writing center, Clohe enjoys writing, reading and playing some video games.
