Jennifer Villarreal - Director of Bands

Ms. Villarreal is in her sixth year as a Texas music educator and currently serves as the Director of Bands at Kenedy Independent School District. Ms.Villarreal directs the Kenedy High School Marching Band, Kenedy High School Symphonic Band, and the Kenedy Middle School Concert Band. She also teaches all Beginning Band classes and coaches 6th, 7th, and 8th grade UIL Music Memory.

Ms. Villarreal is a native of San Antonio, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of the Incarnate Word in 2016. During her time there, Ms. Villarreal was a member of the Marching Cardinals, the Cardinal Red Basketball Band, the Cardinal Chorale, and served as the principal clarinetist of the UIW Wind Ensemble for 4 years. Ms. Villarreal was selected to perform in the CBDNA Small Band Programs Intercollegiate Band and placed one of the top chairs in the clarinet section. Ms. Villarreal has studied clarinet with Mrs. Kathleen Jones and under the mentorship of Dr. Brett A. Richardson and Mr. Ferd Vollmar.

Over her years of teaching, Ms. Villarreal’s concert ensembles have earned excellent and superior division ratings at the University Interscholastic League Concert & Sight Reading contests. Many of her students have made the ATSSB Region 21 Bands, ATSSB Region 14 Bands, the ATSSB All-State Bands, and have participated in the UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest. Ms. Villarreal is a member of Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, and the Young Band Directors of Texas.

During her free time, Ms. Villarreal enjoys traveling to San Antonio to spend time with her family and friends. She also loves performing in community bands, being outdoors, and playing board games.

Becky Fransen- Color Guard Director

This will be my second year as Color Guard Director at Kenedy High School, or any school in Texas. I moved to Texas from Maryland, where I directed color guards at three schools from 2008-2015. I am currently a substitute teacher at Kenedy ISD, while working on receiving my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University.
