LGBTQ+ Staff Training
Fall 2019
GSA students discussed and recorded ways that KHS felt like a safe and unsafe space for Queer students with the goal of educating staff on what to keep doing, and what to do better.
GSA students teamed up with ASB Leadership students to create a video introduction for the staff training day.
Mr. Cossi presented "Ensuring LGBTQ+ Student Safety at Kelso High School" with the help of GSA students and Kelso Show Choir students to our KHS staff. Check out the presentation handout!
Fall 2020
Mr. Cossi sent an email with a Google Slides presentation for Trans Awareness Week. Teachers are challenged to share at least one fact from the presentation with their class by week's end.
Trans Awareness Week & Remembrance Day
Fall 2020
GSA students and KHS teachers met on Zoom for a Virtual Vigil to honor lost Trans lives and write about our Queer Futures fives years from now. If we can dream of where we will be in the future, we can make choices to keep ourselves safe along the way.
Day of Silence
Spring of 2019
Dr. Baros worked with GSA students to create Day of Silence kits with buttons, flyers, educational info, and distributed them to all staff and students who expressed interest.
GSA Art Show
Spring of 2021
This event has been made virtual due to COVID restrictions with the intention of being in person each fall hereafter. Students from KHS and R. A. Long submitted multiple mediums of art via Google Drive to have them shared on the GSA site. The intention of this event and future in-person versions is to give the LGBTQ+ students of the Kelso Longview Metro Area an opportunity to come together through art.
