Welcome to TMS Art!

5TH GRADE PARENTS AND STUDENTS,

We would like to welcome you to TMS Visual Arts!

Sixth Grade is a very important year for artists. Students will finally get the opportunity to choose their elective! Joining art as a 6th grader is a very important way to build on the skills and practices that 5th grade has begun.

Our goal for 6th grade artists is continued growth in their art creation and to build confidence through discovery and experimentation. They will have the opportunity to work in drawing, painting, printmaking, fibers, sculpture, clay, and more!

Our students have earned hundreds of Jr. VASE medals and we have had several artists earn a Platinum medal, which means their work is in the top 10% of our region. Their work has been displayed at the state level as well!  Keller artists are known to have exceptional leaders throughout the district and regional areas of Texas.

Our 7th and 8th grade art programs  build upon the skills begun the 6th grade year.  These classes are a great way to continue to work through creative problem solving and finding your individual artist voice through projects and art criticism.

Our goal is for EVERY student to find a home within our classrooms. We want them to  feel like they belong, they matter, are important, have a voice, feel valued, respected and most of all feel loved.

JOIN OUR ART FAMILY AND BE A PART OF ALL TMS ART HAS TO OFFER!

Meet Your Teachers

Melissa Marrufo

Happy to be here at TMS as the 5th and 6th grade art teacher!

I have a BFA in Visual Art Studies and a BFA in Ceramics from the University of North Texas.  Working in clay is my favorite art medium!

My husband and I have two children in elementary school here in KISD.  We like to go on family hikes, swim, and eat mexican food!

Kristina York

This is my 4th year at Timberview Middle School. I have had the privilege teaching 5th-8th grade art here at TMS. I also have 8 years of experience teaching art on the elementary level. All of my experience has been with Keller ISD.

I have my BFA in Visual Studies from UNT, Go Eagles!

My husband and I have 3 children and 2 dogs. In my spare time I love to spend time with my family, watching musicals at Fair Park, and pursuing photography.
