Sarah Chance, Head Director

Sarah Chance is in her ninth year of teaching and her third year at Indian Springs Middle School as the head band director. She teaches the Wind Ensemble and beginning flute, bassoon and saxophone classes. Mrs. Chance also assists with the other beginning classes as well as the Symphonic and Jazz Bands.

 

Mrs. Chance is originally from Weatherford, where she graduated from Weatherford High School. She attended the University of Oklahoma, graduating with honors with her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education in 2014.  During her time at OU, she performed on Eb, Bb, and bass clarinet in all of the school's major ensembles, including the Pride of Oklahoma, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Mr. Brian Britt, Dr. William Wakefield, and Dr. Jonathan Shames, respectively. She studied clarinet with Jozsef Balogh and Dr. Suzanne Tirk, and was selected as a performer at the Interharmony Music Festival in Arcidosso, Italy. She also served as the Oklahoma Music Educator's Association Collegiate State President.

 

Mrs. Chance began her teaching career at Venus Middle School in Venus, TX, where she taught all levels of middle school band and assisted with the high school as well. After one year at Venus MS, she continued on to teach band at McLean Middle School in Fort Worth, TX as an assistant band director for 2 years and the head band director for 3 years, where the Symphonic Band received sweepstakes for the first time in school history. During her time at McLean Middle School, she received sweepstakes with the Symphonic Band for the first time in school history, as well as consistent sweepstakes with the Wind Ensemble.

 

Mrs. Chance is an active presenter at music education events around the state, including at the SMU Art of Teaching Music workshop, the TCU Music Education Organization, and Fort Worth ISD Fine Arts professional development. Mrs. Chance's professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educator's Association, Texas Music Adjucator’s Association, Texas Bandmaster's Association, and Sigma Alpha Iota music fraternity. Her husband, Josh, is an alumni of the Indian Springs MS and Keller HS band programs, and they live in Fort Worth with their 3 cats and 2 dogs. 

Caroline Caves, Assistant Director

Caroline Caves is in her fourth year of teaching and second year at Indian Springs Middle School. She teaches the Symphonic Band and beginning oboe, euphonium and clarinet classes. Ms. Caves also assists with the other beginning classes as well as the Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band.

 

Ms. Caves began her teaching career in Kaufman ISD as the Assistant Band director as Norman Junior High and Kaufman High School. During her first year of teaching she was promoted to Head Band Director at Norman Junior High. Ms. Caves was also the Color Guard Director at Kaufman High School during her years in Kaufman.

 

Ms. Caves is originally from Arlington, Texas, where she graduated from Arlington High School. She received her undergraduate education from Texas Christian University, where she earned her Bachelor’s in Music Education. During her time at TCU she primarily played the clarinet and bass clarinet in the TCU Wind Symphony. She also spent time playing the euphonium and saxophone in the TCU Concert Band, and baritone in the TCU Horned Frog-Marching Band and TCU Basketball Band.

 

Ms. Caves has taught as a private lesson instructor and marching tech at many schools in the DFW area including Arlington High School, North Ridge Middle School, McLean Middle School, and Stripling Middle School. Ms. Caves is a member of Texas Music Educators Association and Tau Beta Sigma Honorary Band Sorority. 

 

During her free time, she spends time with her family, volunteers at her church with the youth ministry, and plays with her puppy, Forest. Ms. Caves loves teaching, music, and most of all getting to work with students and is overjoyed to be a part of the Keller ISD family!  

Adam Hunt, Assistant Director

Adam Hunt is in his first year of teaching at Indian Springs Middle School. He teaches the Jazz Band and beginning trumpet, horn, trombone, and tuba classes as well as assists with the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band. Prior to Indian Springs, Mr. Hunt student-taught in Keller ISD at Keller High School and Keller Middle School.


Mr. Hunt is originally from Mansfield, Texas, where he graduated from Mansfield High School. He received his undergraduate education from Baylor University, where he earned his Bachelor’s in Music Education. During his time at Baylor, he played trumpet in the Baylor Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Band. He spent four years in the Baylor marching band and courtside pep band while also playing French horn in the concert band.


Mr. Hunt has taught as a private lesson instructor at many schools in the Waco area, including La Vega Intermediate School, La Vega Junior High, and La Vega High School. Mr. Hunt is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association and International Trumpet Guild. 


During his free time, he spends time with his family, watches sports, and enjoys the outdoors. Mr. Hunt loves teaching music, working with students, and is excited to be a part of the Keller ISD family!

Daniel Bloss, KHS Assistant Director

Daniel Bloss is in his eleventh year of teaching and his ninth at Keller High School, where he serves as a woodwind specialist and as the director of the two Concert Bands. Mr. Bloss also teaches the AP Music Theory class and assists with the concert ensembles at Indian Springs Middle School. Before teaching at Keller High School, Mr. Bloss was a director across the district at Timberview Middle School.

 

Mr. Bloss is a proud alumnus of the University of Oklahoma, where he graduated cum laude with his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and a minor in Linguistics. While at OU, Mr. Bloss was recognized for his research on teaching music as a second language, and presented a NAfME clinic on teaching music in non-traditional settings under the mentorship of Dr. Michael Raiber. Mr. Bloss performed in the OU Wind Ensemble and Symphony Band under the direction of Dr. William Wakefield and Mr. Brian Britt, respectively, and was a flute student of Dr. Valerie Watts.

 

Mr. Bloss is originally from Flower Mound, Texas, where he graduated from Marcus High School. He was a three-year drum major for the Marcus Marching Band and performed in the Marcus Wind Ensemble under the direction of Ms. Amanda Drinkwater. Mr. Bloss is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, the National Association for Music Education, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity.

Zac Simons, Percussion Director

Zachary Simons is the Percussion Director for Keller High School, where he oversees all percussion students at Keller High School, Keller Middle School, Indian Springs Middle School, and Bear Creek Intermediate School. 


He earned his Bachelors of Music Education at the University of Oklahoma. While at the OU, he performed with a number of ensembles including the OU Wind Ensemble, OU Symphony Orchestra, the Percussion Orchestra, as well as marching with and serving as a percussion technician for the Pride of Oklahoma. 


Prior to joining the staff at Keller High, Zac served as the Middle School Percussion Specialist and Percussion Assistant for the Broken Arrow Band Program in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. In this role, he oversaw all middle school percussionists, as well as serving as the battery instructor for the Pride of Broken Arrow and BA Indoor Percussion. During his time at Broken Arrow, the group was a multi-time State Marching Band Champion, BOA Regional champion, BOA Grand National Runner-Up and WGI Regional Finalist. 


Zac has been involved in the Drum and Bugle Corps activity in a number of roles. He is an alumnus of the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, and serves as a percussion staff member for The Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps.
