HES Battle of the Books!

KISD Battle of the Books is a competition between KISD schools at the elementary, intermediate, and middle school levels.  KISD Librarians select books for each year's battle.  Students are encouraged to read as many books as possible but are not required to read all of them.  Schools compete with one another during the spring semester. This year the battle will take place on Saturday, Febraury 24, 2024 at Fossil Ridge High School.

The Keller ISD Battle of the Books will take place Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Fossil Ridge High School. You signed a permission slip in order for your student to check out books for the battle. This permission slip informed students and parents of the battle date as well as the criteria that we would use to determine the team members. 

1. There will be 2 teams of 6 players each that will complete at the district battle.

2. Alternates will be chosen as well.

3. Students will take a quiz to determine who will be on the Battle of the Books team.

4. The quiz will take place during Battle of the Book practice the THIRD week of January. Wednesday, January 17 for 5th grade; Thursday, January 18 for 3rd grade; and Friday, January 19 for 4th grade. If your student is absent from school the day of the quiz they will have an opportunity to make up. All students who take the quiz will receive a Battle of the Books T-shirt. 

5. A school battle will take place at the end of January.

6. Following the school battle the students who made the team will be notified.

7. The final two teams and alternates will continue with practices twice weekly during lunch (with the option to attend during recess as well.)
