Deliveries to students*

Deliveries to students need to have their first and last name written on them. We will call your child’s class and their teacher will send him/her to the office at their convenience.

Lunch money must be delivered directly to the cafeteria after you sign-in at the office. The front office will not accept any lunch money, as we do not have access to your child’s lunch accounts. Payments can also be made online at www.schoolcafe.com

*Gift items such as flowers, balloons, etc. cannot be delivered to the school, and third-party meal deliveries (e.g. Uber Eats, DoorDash) will be declined.

Arrival / Early Release for Students

Our campus is not open until 7:15 a.m., and students are not permitted to be dropped off before 7:15 a.m.

If you need to pick up your child for early release, please do so before 2:30 p.m. This allows plenty of time to locate your child before our dismissal procedures begin. A student cannot be called out of class for an off-campus appointment before a parent or guardian are physically in the office to pick them up.

Lunch Procedures

Parents are always welcome to eat lunch with their child. You must check-in at the office with your driver’s license before entering the cafeteria. You may bring food from outside restaurants for your child, but you may not bring food for students other than your child.

Parents are only permitted to eat lunch with their own child, and can not invite additional children to join them for lunch. Only visitors on your child’s approved visitor list may come to have lunch with your child.

Office Phone

Arrangements for going home after school are to be made before school. Students are not to use the phone in the office to make after school arrangements. The office phone is for emergencies only and the student must have permission from their teacher to use the phone.

Absences

If your child is going to be absent, please contact the attendance office before 9:45 a.m. to let them know about the absence. The number is 817-744-4000, or you may email the attendance clerk at tammy.ward@KellerISD.net

Make-Up Work

If your child is absent, you may request assignments by emailing your child’s teachers. Teachers will attempt to gather necessary make-up assignments in a reasonable time, and parents may pick up assignments at the invitation of the teacher.

Tardies

Any student who is not in his seat, in the classroom, by 7:45 a.m. is considered tardy. Students who arrive at school later than 7:45 a.m. need to report to the office to receive a tardy slip before they go to class.

Check-In Requirement

All campus visitors must check-in at the front office and receive approval before passing beyond the reception area. This is for the safety of all students, including yours. Please have your driver’s license readily available.

Student Messages

If you have a message to give your child, you may call the front office before 2:30 p.m. All messages will be delivered to students in their classrooms by 2:30 p.m. It is not possible to guarantee that messages taken after 2:30 p.m. will be delivered once we have begun our dismissal process.

Birthdays

You are welcome to bring treats into the office for your child’s birthday; however, you must provide enough items for every child in your student’s classroom to partake. For safety reasons, all items must be store-bought, sealed, and free of common allergens (e.g., peanuts, tree nuts). Treats will be delivered to the classrooms at the end of the day. We are sorry, but homemade items, balloons, and flowers will be declined.

The House System at PHIS

As a means of building friendship and community, each student and staff member at PHIS is part of a house. There are eight houses, and each one has its own color, meaning, and mascot. Students will remain in their house through eighth grade, as PHIS and Hillwood Middle School utilize the housing system together. Students compete to earn house points for rewards and house pride, and each Friday rewards are announced for the house winner. In addition to regular house meetings, students participate in House Rally Days, in which the houses compete in various activities to earn points. At the end of the year, the house with most points becomes our House Cup Champion, and is awarded with a special grand prize trip.
