These instructions are for performing authentication using only a smartphone or mobile phone. You can check if your smartphone supports biometric authentication here: Okta Authentication Method Device Verification (Please access this link from the device you wish to check).
If your smartphone or mobile phone does not support biometric authentication, you will not be able to perform Steps 3.21 and 3.22 below (all other steps can be completed). In this case, Okta FastPass may not be available as an authentication method. Please use Okta Push Notification or Okta TOTP (passcode entry) instead.
If you wish to register a landline, please perform Steps 1 and 2 below from a computer or smartphone (you can register from either device).
Note 1: MFA will not be activated unless you perform Step 2: "Enabling Multi-Factor Authentication" (during the period before the mandatory implementation date).
Once the mandatory implementation date has passed, MFA will become active regardless of the status of Step 2 (the setting value for "multi-factor authentication").
Staff members using administrative PCs should check the information on the intranet site (KIF4).
Note 2: Registering phone authentication when staying overseas (e.g., studying abroad)
Multiple phone numbers can be registered simultaneously, and international numbers can be specified. However, due to the specifications of the SMS/Voice authentication system used by Okta, authentication codes may not be delivered to phone numbers outside of Japan (+81). In such cases, the registration process will not be completed successfully.
If you do not receive an authentication code within approximately 3 minutes during registration, that phone number may not be compatible with SMS/Voice authentication. If this occurs, please ensure you register multiple alternative authentication factors to prepare for risks such as device malfunction or loss.
