This is an important security announcement for all keio.jp users (excluding Alumni and Guarantors).
To protect against the increasing risk of unauthorized access, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will become mandatory for logging into keio.jp.
As a result, you will no longer be able to sign in using only your Keio ID and password. We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a secure environment.
・Set up with "passwordless" authentication(Recommended!)
Setup requires a smartphone or PC capable of biometric authentication (fingerprint or facial recognition).
If you do not have a device capable of biometric authentication, please refer to the section titled “Set Up Using a Computer Without Biometric Authentication Functionality and a Smartphone.”
※If you are unsure whether your device supports biometric authentication, you can check on the website below.
Please access the link below for “Okta Authentication Method Device Verification” on the device you wish to verify (smartphone or computer).
If “Available” is displayed under Biometric Authentication Support in the Device Information section, the above settings can be configured.

All affected users:
・December 23, 2025:
・Passwordless login functionality has been added.
・January 22, 2026:
・Users without a registered phone number will now see a prompt to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA) during sign-in.
Simply setting a phone number via this screen does not enable MFA.
Please complete step 2: Enable Multi-Factor Authentication in the settings below.
(Clicking “Notify Me Later” or ‘Continue’ allows sign-in without setting up MFA.)
・We have temporarily removed the “Sign in with Okta FastPass” button from the login screen.
(This is due to a sharp increase in failed MFA setup attempts via this button.)

MFA adds a second verification step using your smartphone, in addition to your traditional password.
Think of it as adding a second lock to your front door.
Even if someone steals your password, they cannot login without the "second key" (your smartphone), drastically improving security.
✨ Recommended: Go "Passwordless" for Convenience
You might think, "Authenticating twice every time seems troublesome."
By setting up the recommended Passwordless method, you can skip entering your password entirely.
Log in securely and easily just by tapping your phone or using Face/Fingerprint ID.
✅ Recommended Methods (Choose one)
① Okta Verify App
Install the app on your smartphone to use “Face ID” or “Touch ID.” No more password entries!
You can also use the authentication method where you check and tap notifications sent to your phone.
② Passkey
Use your device's Face ID or Fingerprint auth. No password typing needed!
For details about Passkey, please see below.

⚠️ Important: Due to security policies, Email Authentication is NOT available. Please use one of the methods above.
📞 Pro Tip: Register Your Phone Number
Before setting up the multi-factor authentication app, please register your phone number first.
・Reason1: It enables authentication via SMS or voice call.
・Reason2: Even if you can no longer use the app due to changing devices, you can ensure you have a way to recover your login yourself without needing to contact KIC or visit a service counter.
Note: For users staying overseas (e.g., studying abroad)
Multiple phone numbers can be registered simultaneously, including international numbers. However, due to the specifications of the SMS/Voice authentication system used by Okta, authentication codes may not be delivered to phone numbers outside of Japan (+81). In such cases, the registration process will not be completed successfully.
If you do not receive an authentication code within approximately 3 minutes during registration, that phone number may not be compatible with SMS/Voice authentication. If this occurs, please ensure you register multiple alternative authentication factors (such as Passkeys or Okta Verify) to prepare for risks such as device malfunction or loss.
