Keep Tucson Together (KTT) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to defending immigrant families in Southern Arizona. We provide free legal assistance to any Pima County resident who cannot afford an attorney. Our mission is simple and urgent: to ensure that everyone facing immigration court has proper representation and a fair chance at justice.
KTT offers free legal support for individuals seeking assistance with:
Adjustment of Status
Appeals
Asylum
Cancellation of Removal
FOIA Request (Freedom of Information Act)
DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals)
Naturalization
Our volunteer-driven, pro bono legal clinic works side-by-side with attorneys to keep families together and protect the rights of our immigrant community.
Keep Tucson Together was founded in 2011 by three dedicated Tucson women activists who believed that no one should face deportation alone. At the time, an Obama-era policy allowed certain immigration cases to be closed for individuals with strong community ties, no criminal or immigration violations, and several years of residence in the United States.
Thanks to this policy and the work of our volunteers, we successfully closed many cases and kept countless Tucson families together.
In 2012, when President Obama announced DACA, KTT opened a legal clinic at Pueblo High School. Since then, we have assisted more than 4,000 DACA recipients with their initial applications and renewals, helping them obtain a renewable two-year work permit and temporary protection from deportation.
In 2015, KTT expanded its services by training volunteers to help community members apply for U.S. citizenship. A later Obama-era policy created a pathway for eligible residents to request fee waivers for their applications. Since launching this program, we have helped more than 4,500 community members apply for and achieve U.S. citizenship.
In 2017, in response to increasingly harsh immigration policies, KTT launched La Campaña del Pueblo (People Power Campaign) to help protect vulnerable families. We provided:
A power of attorney
A large “Law Enforcement Officials: DO NOT ENTER Without a Lawful Search Warrant” poster for homes, businesses, churches, and community spaces
With these tools, families gained real protection from ICE and Border Patrol. Working alongside community partners and organizations, we developed critical resources to help people know their rights, understand their legal options, and defend themselves in encounters with immigration officers.
