KRB EARTH DAY 2024 ART CONTEST RULES
3D artwork must be an original work of the contestant, created by hand featuring the theme: “Planet vs. Plastics!” Real plastic items that can be recycled which have an effect on the planet must be physically used in the 3D artwork.
Students must be currently enrolled in grades K-12 and live in Rowlett (this includes all homeschool and private school students). Adult Contestants must live in Rowlett.
3D artwork is limited to ONE entry per person.
3D artwork must be created and done by the contestant with minimal assistance from teacher or parent/guardian.
Original artwork is 3D (sculpture, clay, ceramic, mosaic, mixed media, fashion, wood & metal)
The 3D artwork created must not have been previously published, won prior awards, exhibited, or displayed publicly through any means.
Original artwork must be submitted by the student contestant and parent/guardian or adult contestant at the Earth Day Event, April 20, 2024 between 12:00 to 2:00 PM to the Art Area in the big white Art Tent on the Green downtown Rowlett by the roundabout. Artwork will not be accepted after 2:00 PM.
SIZE OF 3D ARTWORK
No larger than 30” x 30” x 30” - and must be transported AND picked up by the contestant from the Art Area between 7:45 and 8:00 PM on April 20, 2024.
SUBMITTING ENTRIES
Original 3D Artwork must be submitted by the student contestant and parent or legal guardian or adult contestant at the Earth Day Event, April 20, 2024 no later than 2:00 PM to the Art Area. Please check in at the table, fill out an index card, and pick up a number to see where your artwork will be displayed.
Before submitting the artwork on Earth Day, you must upload a digital photo of the artwork using the KRB 3D Art Contest website by NOON on Thursday, April 18. Include title of artwork, contestant’s name (LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_ARTWORKTITLE). The photo will be placed on the table by each entry and also featured on the KRB website.
The digital photo uploaded should be a high resolution image of the contestant’s original artwork.
Each file must be under 10 MB in size, and in .jpg or .png format. (If you have an iPhone, please check the photo settings by following these directions: Go to Settings > Camera > Formats > then select Most Compatible. This will ensure it is in jpeg format.)
Contestants must include the following information to write on a index card:
On the front of the card: 3D Artwork’s Title, 3D/Method, Brief description of plastic featured in artwork and how it reflects the theme “Planet vs. Plastics!”
KRB will fill in the back of the card with the registration information, and the contestant will fill in the front of the card upon check-in at the Art Area.
CRITERIA
Artwork will be evaluated based on originality, interpretation of the theme: “Planet vs. Plastics!” using creative techniques, composition, and overall art appearance.
The essential elements must be included in the 3D Artwork:

JUDGING
Judges will make selections based on the above-mentioned criteria to determine which 3D artwork will be awarded: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be selected in each age category. Entries will be judged starting at 3:00 PM. Winners will be announced at 6:30 PM and receive their awards on the main stage.

SUBMISSION TERMS & AGREEMENT
When submitting artwork, contestant must agree to the following terms and conditions:
I certify that the 3D artwork submitted is my own work with minimal assistance from a parent or teacher and not totally copied from any other work, photograph, illustration or website, nor made by another person. I represent that this 3D artwork does not infringe on any third party intellectual property rights. I understand that the photo submitted of the artwork, including text about the artwork will become the property of Keep Rowlett Beautiful, Inc. (KRB). I give KRB permission to publish through a variety of media, distribute copies to the public, and display publicly the photo of the 3D artwork, including text but not limited to, contestant’s name, school/grade, and any photographs containing the contestant’s image, for all purposes deemed appropriate by KRB.
I certify that I have read or had someone read to me the Official Rules and fully understand and agree to the contents.
