Seussical Jr, April 2019
Suessical is based on a few Dr. Seuss stories all woven together. The Cat in the Hat with Thing One, Thing Two and Jojo tell the heartfelt story of Horton trying to save the Who's and Gertrude McFuzz who ultimately saves Horton and the Whos. Along the way we meet Mayzie La Bird, Bird Girls, Wickersham Brothers, Jungle citizens and the Whos. The upbeat music and fun script kept us all entertained. Another fantastic show!

Once Upon a Mattress, March 2018
Didn't the cast do a great job taking us back in time to Once Upon a Time!! We loved Princess Fred and all felt sorry for poor Prince Dauntless and all the other Knights and Ladies as they tried to overcome the curse of the Queen and her Wizard. Such a funny show! Bravo cast & crew! Katie Perkins, Director Matt Mitchell, Musical Director
Annie Jr, March 2017
A fantastic show! Annie and the orphans lit up the stage with their songs and dances. Reese was the perfect Annie, bringing tears when she sang "Maybe" and "Tomorrow." Miss Hannigan, Rooster and Lily were the funniest villains ever, but thank goodness for Mr. Warbucks and his talented staff who saved Annie and the orphans. The New Yorkers took us to NYC with a rousing number that filled the house. Bravo, Shining Stars! Katie Perkins, Director Matt Mitchell, Musical Director
Lion King Jr, March 2016
What a wonderful production!! The cast took on this huge Broadway show and did themselves proud. They made us laugh ~ especially Timon and Pumbaa ~ and they made us cry. The scene where Mufasa dies and Simba and the Lionesses mourn was played to perfection. The music was superb and uplifting. Everyone in the audience went home singing the songs and marveling at the talent on the stage. Bravo, Shining Stars, Bravo! Katie Perkins, Director Matt Mitchell, Musical Director
101Dalmatians Dec. 2014
We came close to having 101 dalmatians (62 actors, but it felt like 101) lighting up our stage with their wonderful singing and dancing. The Dalmatians, with the help of their humans and the London Dogs gave Cruella and her henchmen a run for their money. We were also thrilled to welcome previous Shining Stars back to the stage for an "Ode to Disney." Katie Perkins, Director Matt Mitchell, Musical Director
Peter Pan March 2014
Peter Pan, Tinkerbell and the Fairies led Wendy, Michael and John on an adventure to Neverland. Along the way they met Tiger Lily and the Indians, singing Mermaids and of course, Capt. Hook, Smee and his merry band of Pirates. A jolly time was had by all. Katie Perkins, Director Matt Mitchell, Musical Director Lindsey St. Louis, Choreographer
Of Note: Shining Stars and our production of Peter Pan was named by the NH Arts Learning Network as the program worthy of their "Hats Off" recognition. So proud of our program and all who worked to help the kids shine.
The Jungle Book February 2013 The classic story, The Jungle Book, presented by our Shining Stars! Our stage was transformed into a jungle with a large assortment of animals hiding among the jungle leaves and hanging vines. The animals all rallied around our Mowgli, brilliantly played by Sophie, to protect her from Shere Khan (Jacob - so scary!!). They were all led by the loving and fun Balloo and Bagheera (Kaila & Marina) and Shanti (Nina). Remember to "Look for the Bare Necessities." Katie Perkins, Director Matt Mitchell, Musical Director Lindsey St. Louis, Choreographer
The Field Trip, February 2012 A Musical Mystery!! The Shining Stars take a field trip to New York City. They visit famous landmarks like Central Park, the Empire State Building (is that King Kong?), Time Square and Ground Zero. A mystery unfolds when kids start disappearing and magically become part of the cast of different Broadway shows. Who is that masked man stealing our kids? Could it be the Phantom? Hope you were there to see the mystery solved. Katie Perkins, Director Matt Mitchell, Musical Director Ashley Grace & Lindsey St. Louis, Choreographers
Beauty and the Beast January 2011 Tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme, Beauty and the Beast.... a story that challenges us all to look past the outer shell and see the human underneath. 60 actors took us on this wonderful journey.
From the energetic, Be Our Guest led by Corbin (as Lumiere) and the Gaston Song led by Joe and Ben (Lefou and Gaston) to the lyrical Home with Izzy (as Belle) and Beauty and the Beast (Isabelle as Mrs. Potts) the music wrapped the audience into the tale. Logan did a great job portraying the Beast, making us understand the monster and the man within.
A special touch to our show, one we believe has never been done on stage before, was the casting of Belle S. as the Rose. The simplicity of the Rose's dances, losing energy as she lost petals, touched the hearts of our audience. It was this, the simplicity of the rose opposite the energy of the large full cast numbers that took our show to such a high level. Another huge success for Shining Stars. Bravo!
Honk! April 2010
Our cast of 62 shone brightly as they presented the story of Ugly the duckling. We will always remember the music and laughs from Carl as Drake, Mia as the Cat, Logan and Rochelle as the Geese, Nick as the Bullfrog, and Zoe as Penny. We wept with Kelsea who just wanted everyone to love her son. Matthew took our breath away with his brilliant portrayal of Ugly. He taught us that it really is okay to be different. This is theater at its best... a show and cast who touched our hearts with their talent and their message. Bravo!

Elementary School Musical February 2007
This musical, a take off of the very popular High School Musical, had 18 numbers to help us tell the tale of a Fifth Grade class that produces an annual musical. Sound familiar?! Mr. Spadaro, Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Daigle, Mrs. Bridges and Mrs. Perkins even made a cameo performance. Fun was had by all. Katie Perkins, Director Edie Daigle, Musical Director, Heather Bridges, Asst. Musical Director , Ashley Grace, Choreographer
The Wizard of Oz May 2006
The Wizard of Oz is a classic musical. It is our first "name" show for Shining Stars to put on. We had great fun as we danced and sang our way from Kansas, to Somewhere Over the Rainbow, to Munchkinland, to the Yellow Brick Road, to Emerald City and the castle of the Wicked Witch. Along the way we learned that friendship is very important and that there is no place like home. We were wowed by Gemma as Dorothy with her trusty sidekicks, Sam, Michael, Brian, Michelle and Sarah. The whole cast took on the huge challenge of The Wizard of Oz and were absolutely wonderful. Bravo.

The Curse Reversed March 2005
The Curse Reversed was a musical written by Mrs. Perkins, with the help of her Dad, about the 2004 Boston Red Sox and their first World Series Championship in 86 years. The Warner Town Hall was converted into Fenway Park. Vendors roamed the aisles selling hot dogs, popcorn and sodas. Wally, the Green Monster, was available for photos. The cast presented scenes from baseball over the years, including a special tribute to Abbott and Costello's Who's on First performed brilliantly by Nick and Brian. The cast presented songs and scenes from opening day through the last out of the World Series. Go Red Sox!

The Adventures of Lewis & Clark April 2004The Adventures of Lewis and Clark was a musical about, you guessed it, Merriwether Lewis and William Clark. The story begins in Washington, DC when President Thomas Jefferson, heads to France to a meeting with Napoleon Bonaparte, and back to Washington where Lewis is offered the opportunity of a lifetime. He is joined on the exploration by his good friend Clark, a crew and his faithful dog, Seaman. During his trip they meet up with Charbonneau, a French fur trapper, and his wife, Sacagawea, who ends up being a guide and translator for the trip. The musical was full of wonderful songs and dance.

The Castaways, May 2003
A musical based on the story of the Orphan Trains that took place in our country from 1850 to 1930. It is the story of ten castaway children living on the streets of New York at the turn of the century. It tells of the many adults who tried to help these children find a better life. "Choose Me" truly hit home.
Katie Perkins, Director Edie Daigle, Musical Director
Kids, May 2002
Kids was a musical all about being... a kid. The show included scenes about school, bullies, nightmares, and dreams. The cast was led by the singing talents of Jamie, Julia, and Kelly. Everyone did a wonderful job portraying kids. Kids was done as dessert theater in our multi-purpose room at our school. We transformed the room using small tables with tablecloths and candlelight. The audience was given a gourmet dessert (donated by The Common Man Restaurant) to enjoy and music to listen to before the show. Kids was our first Shining Stars production.

Before Shining Stars...
Civil War Days, April 2000
Civil War Days was a show written by the fifth grade cast and Mrs. Perkins. We called our group, Lunch Box Theater, as we met at lunch time. The show was a series of vignettes that showed life during the Civil War; from the auction of a slave, to the secession of the southern states, to soldiers at war, to the Emancipation Proclamation and more. The play showed both sides of the war, the blue and the gray. The most moving scene involved a southern fiddler boy, played beautifully by Chris who wound his way through the audience playing "Ashokan Farewell" on his violin. As the music faded we heard, "Now, every time I aim at a boy in gray, I have to wonder if it was that fiddler boy." (A scene from a story in our textbook.) Not a dry eye in the house.
Civil War Days was performed in the Bradford Town Hall. The simplicity of the old town hall led itself beautifully to the feel of our play. Katie Perkins, Director
