Practicing is essential to the growth and musical development of the group. Everyone is expected to practice everyday.
Practice until you CAN’T get it wrong, not until you get it right.
Rehearsal Expectations
1. Be Respectful: Performing is a very personal and often, very vulnerable task. Teasing, heckling or insulting another’s voice or effort will NOT be tolerated.
2. Be On Time: Make every effort to be in the rehearsal space when the bell rings. Attendance is taken promptly at the start of class. If you’re not there, you’ll be marked absent (or tardy, if pertinent). Excessive absent or tardy markings will be dealt with in accordance to school policy.
3. Be Prepared: Have you music folder and sharpened pencil with you and be ready for every rehearsal.
4. Be Attentive: Do not be distractive to the class or director. Excessive talking and unproductive actions will be reflected in your grade in accordance to our Weekly Ensemble Skills & Musicianship Rubric.
5. Be Mature: Listen to the Director as well as questions asked by other students. This is an important and simple way of learning.
6. Be Responsible: The student remains personally responsible for the condition of the folders and music. Please report any damage to or problems with your music, immediately.
7. Be Courteous: Cell phone use (all calls & texting) is not allowed during rehearsals. Habitual use will be dealt with in accordance to school policy.
8. Be A Team: Think of your performing group as a “team”. We are only as strong as our weakest performer!
9. Be Excited: If you actively engage in daily rehearsals with a productive attitude, the outcome will be a positive experience.
10. Be Hydrated: Drinking WATER (or a water-type beverage), is strongly encouraged during rehearsals. Per your student handbook.
