Technology and Social Media Resources for parents:
https://www.waituntil8th.org/ Wait Until 8th is a resource to support parents in delaying getting their child a smart phone until they are at least in 8th grade. One of my favorite things about this site is the "Wait Until 8th's App Game Plan" which includes information about popular apps like Snap Chat and Tik Tok, along with reviews of apps that you will likely see on many kids' phones. They also have a good Blog going on the site.
https://www.screenagersmovie.com/ Screenagers is another excellent resource for parents - one of my personal favorites. Delaney Ruston, MD is the filmmaker responsible for the two films, "Screenagers" and "Screenagers: Next Chapter" and has expanded her work in helping families navigate technology with a Podcast and her Tech Talk Tuesdays newsletter and Blog - be sure to click on "Screenagers Blog" to check it out. I subscribed to get this weekly newsletter emailed to me, and I always look forward to it.
https://childmind.org/gettingbettertogether/ This is the Child Mind Institute's "Getting Better Together" campaign that promotes ways to cope with stress, isolation, and mental health challenges. It features a series of personal testimonials from celebrities and kids about how we can cope with these challenges, and this "new normal."
