This page is dedicated to responding to the requests for additional information from the Form that is posted on the homepage. We will list the question and the answer.
Q: Wasn't sure who to ask for help, but I am having trouble linking my youngest son to my already existing Powerschool Account. I followed the directions and tried to add him in account preferences, but it isn't working. I have two older children already in the account. Not sure if it is system glitch? I can get into his Powerschool account but just can't link it to my parent account. Thanks for any help!
A: This depends on the grade for your youngest child. Parents can only access information on children in grades 6-12 using the PowerSchool portal. If your child is in at least 6th grade and you are still not able to access the information, then it could be that the incoming 6th graders haven't been set up with this access yet. This is done by guidance and should be available once school starts. Please contact the guidance office at KRMS for access information if your child is in at least 6th grade. If your child is younger than 6th grade, then there won't be access.
Q: After school activities/schedule
A: Use this file (that is also located on the home page) called Daily Notices to search for student activities.
Q: I need the form to request a PowerSchool ID for my incoming 6th grader.
A: This is the form used to gather parent/guardian emails for PowerSchool. This form is included in the opening school day packet so there is no need to print it in advance.
Q: Library Hours
A: The hours listed on the website are: Hours: Monday - Friday 7:15 AM to 3:30 PM (until 4:30 PM on Thursday). Here is a link to the library page to check for any changes in hours.
Q: What supplies will my son need for 6th grade?
A: The list of supplies for 6th grade is outlined in a letter sent out by the Grade 6 Team and posted on the website at some point in the summer. The list is updated each year so there is no specific area on the website right now with this info. We will work to get a list posted as early in the summer as possible.
Q: Please could you let me know whether to make check for deposit for Washington DC trip payable to KRMS or KRSD.
A: Check are to be made payable to KRMS
Q: I couldn't find the list with all the events throughout the entire school year.
A: Use this file (that is also located on the home page) called Daily Notices to search for student activities. Also, some activities are listed on the KRMS calendar. This calendar is on the home page.
Q: Do you publish an Honor Roll for the Middle School?
A: The KRMS Honor roll is published in the Intertown Record and in the Argus Champion. It is also posted in the building outside the Guidance Office.
Q: Information about how and when 6th graders choose electives, if they can switch 2nd semester from one to another, when students take world language and how that is organized.
A: Unified Arts (Specials) at KRMS
KRMS offers students in sixth through eighth grades opportunities in the Unified Arts (UA) and Languages that are designed to give students a wide range of experiences throughout their middle years. Sometimes referred to as Specials classes, these offerings include: Art, Band, Chorus, General Music, Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS), Health Education, Physical Education (PE), Technology Education (Tech Ed), World Languages (6th grade only), and French and Spanish (7th and 8th grades only).
The KRMS philosophy calls for students to take as many of the Unified Arts classes as possible. There is room in each student’s schedule for four UA courses per semester which meet every other day following a Day 1 and Day 2 schedule. Physical Education, Chorus, Band, French, and Spanish are full-year courses while Art, Music, FACS, Health and Tech Ed. are semester-long classes. Students may elect to join Band and/or Chorus at the beginning of the year and seventh and eighth-grade students may elect to take French or Spanish. Physical Education is required of all KRMS students. The other Unified Arts classes are assigned to the student based on availability with the goal of giving each student exposure to every Unified Arts discipline. Students who are identified by their teachers as needing additional academic support may have a Student Support class scheduled in place of a Unified Arts class.
