Graduation from high school is the celebration of the completion of not only four years of high school but possibly twelve years of formal education in the Kearsarge Regional School District. Graduation is a formal event and as such we require that all students participating in this optional ceremony adhere to the semi-formal dress code described below.
Semi-formal attire includes the following:
Dress whose length does not exceed the length of the gown (about mid-calf).
Most any dress shoe appropriate would be appropriate for graduation.
High heels are strongly discouraged for outdoors (Soft ground + pointy heel = falling graduate)
Collared dress shirt, tie, dress pants and dress shoes.
No shorts, jeans, work pants, t-shirts, polo style/golf shirts, sneakers, or work boots.
Flip flops, Crocs or any other such footwear are not permitted, not only for appearance but for safety in negotiating the stairs.
Note: We have a large collection of neckties already in our possession and there are plenty of staff willing to loan students anything they might need to meet the dress code. Given enough advance communication, we are confident we can accommodate the needs of any student. The burden of communication, however, is on the student.
Failure to Adhere to Dress Code
Participation in the graduation ceremony is completely voluntary and is not required to earn a diploma. By agreeing to participate in the ceremony, students are agreeing to adhere to the dress code as written out here. Students have and will be sent home to change if they arrive to graduation not adhering to the dress code.
