Kearsarge Regional High School (KRHS) is excited to announce the launch of a cutting-edge Kit Car Building Program that will provide students with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in automotive engineering, mechanics, and design. The intial build for this program will be a Factory Five MK4 Cobra.
Factory Five Racing is a company in Massachusetts that designs and manufactures affordable, high-performance “build-it-yourself” car projects. The original
MK4 Roadster is one of their original designs that uses an engine and transmission from a donor car (a 2016 - 2021 5.0 Mustang). These kits can be
fun to build and allow for a hands-on learning experience for anyone involved in the build process. This process can offer learning opportunities in the following areas:
● Budgeting and finance
● Reading/understanding technical designs
● Parts identification and sorting
● Team Work
● Time management
● Engineering concepts
● Mechanical Skills
● Proper tool usage
This program has a start up cost of $60,000.00 that would be fundraised through outside sponsors, grant, and private funding. After the initial build the car would be sold to fund the next build and help grow the program.
