At Simonds, we are very lucky to have the opportunity to partner with Main Street Warner, Inc., BookEnds, and the PTO to bring local authors/illustrators in to talk to the students about their work. Each child learns what is involved in being an author or an illustrator, or both! The students also leave with a signed book!
Author and illustrator Brian Lies was terrific! His message of "Practice makes BETTER" resonated with all students!
Cynthia Lord visited us from Maine. She is the author of Because of the Rabbit (among others) which was our One School - One Book read this year! What a treat it was to hear her writing process and get a taste for the many different books she has written.
Ralph Fletcher came and told us how his writing is often based on his life!
David Elliot joined us and helped us understand the poetry writing process.
