Throughout our research, it is often a trend that test scores improve throughout each district factor group (i.e. DFG J performs significantly better than DFG A). This may be traced back to the DFGs socioeconomic status.
While there was a slight difference in proficiency between each test, this trend stayed the same when looking at English Language Learners. Looking at four tests (grade 3, grade 5, grade 7, and algebra).
DFG A was mostly between 0-30% proficient
For example, Trenton City School District had 1.1% proficiency
DFG FG was mostly between 15-50% proficient
For example, Dumont Borough School District had 57.1% proficiency
DFG J was mostly between 55-90% proficient
For example, Montgomery Township School District had 90.9% proficiency
ELL students in DFG J performed higher than students in DFG A where English is their first Language. There is a relation between a districts socioeconomic status and their students test proficiency.
