On Sunday we did a little sightseeing to Mount Evans because where else can you drive up a paved road to the top of a 14,000 ft mountain within an hour of a major US city? Angela and I had driven partway up Mount Evans before, but we couldn't reach the peak because part of the road had already been closed due to snow...and this was two days after Labor Day last year! Well the peak was still open on Sunday August 20th, but we did get s surprise at the top. It was 42 degrees and SNOWING. Yes folks, we saw snow in August.

This thermometer said 45 degrees, but the one on the car said 42 at the top. At one point on the way down when the storm was blowing by it was 39 degrees!

These guys were more at home at 14,000 ft than a bunch of Texans in a Jeep Compass at 45 degrees (the Jeep thermometer said 42. BTW, the CVT in the Compass does an awesome job up and down mountain switchbacks.

As for the snow, you're going to have to trust me. Between the three of us, we didn't get any pictures of the snowfall....:(
