The Horatio Alger Association seeks to provide scholarship assistance to deserving students who have demonstarted integrity, determination in overcoming adversity, academic potential, the personal aspirations to make a unique contribution to society, strength of character and financial need.

The South Carolina Education Association-Retired Scholarship
the SCEA-Retired administers a scholarship program as an ongoing activity of the Association. Four scholarships of $1,000 each are awarded annually and are designed to help enable promising young people to pursue a four-year degree in education at a SACS accredited college, university, technical school or community college in South Carolina.
Eligibility requirements for receiving and maintaining the scholarship include:
The applicant must be a senior graduating from a public high school in SC.
The applicant must plan to attend a SACS accredited college, university, technical school or community college in SC as a full-time student.
The applicant must plan to pursue a career in education.
The applicant must have maintained a good high school academic record.
The applicant must demonstrate leadership abilities.
The applicant must need financial assistance.
*The recipient will be notified on or before May 15th.

The Hagan Scholarship is a need-based merit scholarship for goal-driven students in the 2026 high school graduating class. The parents' 2024 Adjusted Gross Household Income must not have exceeded $125,000.

Outstanding Horsemanship Scholarship
The Outstanding Horsemanship Scholarship is sponsored by the South Carolina Horse Council and recognizes SCHC members who have shown outstanding scholarship, leadership qualities and a committment in participation in equestrian activities and/or community equestrian organizations.
Applications will be submitted via a Google form found on the SCHC website under Rider Opportunities. The required minimum GPA is 2.5. This year 4- $1000 scholarships will be awarded.

BCBS of SC and Columbia Urban League Scholarship 2026
This $5,000 scholarship is awarded each year ro a graduating African-American high school senior who resides in Richland, Lexington, Newberry, Fairfield, Sumter, Clarendon, Kershaw, Lee and Allendale counties. This scholarship is a non-renewable one-time award, sent directly to the college/university where its recipient will attend school.

Will Shealy Memorial Scholarship
The Will Shealy Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Will Shealy, a student at Lugoff-Elgin High School, who tragically lost his life in a car accident in January of 2023. Will was a car fanatic who loved working with his hands and fixing up his Nissan 350z. Each year, a scholarship will be awarded to a WTC student who shows determination and intends to pursue a career in a trade. To be considered for this scholarship, the student must be a senior who attends WTC and has completed a program of study there.
