General Information/Vendor Eligibility

The KHS Craft Fair will take place on Saturday, April 23, 2022 in the gymnasium of the Kennett High School from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. This is an indoor activity and will take place rain or shine. The space allows for numerous vendors and enough room for customers to move throughout. In addition, we will distribute a program that will provide contact information/business cards of each vendor. It will be available to all shoppers if you would like to continue to market your products after the day’s event.

We welcome crafters, vendors, artists, commercial exhibitors (Avon, Pampered Chef, etc.), and those who meet the criteria identified in the application. All participants must be selling their product and not merely promoting a concept. All interested parties must submit an application and be paid in full in order to set up and participate.

Vendors will rent a space(s) and provide their own tables and chairs for the prices listed below. If a vendor would like a table and chairs added on, they may rent them for an additional fee listed below. Tables and chairs are limited and available on a first come first serve basis. The table/chairs add-on includes one table and 2 chairs.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. How many years has Kennett High School been running a Craft Fair?

    • 2022 is our 2nd Craft Fair.

2. How much traffic came to the Kennett High School Craft fair this year?

  • 2019 was our first craft fair with an estimated total of several hundred customers. However, we are hoping to grow in attendance every year. 2019 crafters/vendors described traffic as slow but steady.

3. What feedback was given by crafters/vendors who participated in 2019?

  • “Thank you for inviting me to this craft fair. We had a great time – we were very busy and made a lot of contacts and our sales were good. Please let the kids who volunteered know how much we appreciated their help. They are an awesome bunch!”

  • “Thank you so much for hosting a great craft show! It was a good first year and it will just keep growing. So glad to have been a part!”

  • “Kudos to you for putting on a great craft show! Everything was very organized with great communication throughout the process. A Huge-Shout-Out to all the students & volunteers – they were so helpful! Looking forward to next year’s show!”

4. How many crafters/vendors said they would return as participants in future years?

  • 93% said yes

5. Will the application fee be waived for non-profit organizations, charities, or veterans?

  • We are in great support of our veterans, charities, and non-profit organizations. However, the craft fair is a fundraiser solely for our students and therefore, we cannot waive the application fee.

6. If I am approved as a crafter/vendor, Is my application fee refundable if I am unable to attend the event?

  • No. Application fees are non-refundable for any reason.

7. How are crafter/vendor spots assigned?

  • Spots are on a first come first serve basis depending on when the application is received (not the date it is mailed). Spots will be assigned to the main gym first and then the small gym. Spots are assigned in order and based on needs, such as electricity and size.

8. Will crafters/vendors who participated last year be given first chance to participate again before new applicants are considered?

  • Yes! Last year’s participants will be privileged to participate at the event two weeks ahead of the general public. We value those who are willing to grow with us and therefore want to give them “preferred status.”

9. Does your Craft show accept commercial vendors and if so, what kind of commercial vendors?

  • Yes. We are not a “hand-made only” event, so we will consider taking vendors who have a physical product to sell on the day of the event, such as Thirty-One, Pampered Chef, Tastefully Simple, etc. We will not accept commercial vendors that are promoting a concept or marketing an intangible product, such as energy sources or realtor services.

10. How many commercial vendors will you accept?

  • We will only accept one commercial vendor per company. For example, if we already have a Lularoe consultant participating, we will not accept another.

11. Will you accept food vendors or food trucks?

  • At this time, we are not accepting food trucks. Vendors/crafters may sell food at the event, but it must be products from your business, such as bakery items, kettle corn, fudge, dips, chocolates, jams, etc. Students will be selling concessions, so vendors who want to offer food that is served from chafing dishes will not be approved.

12. How big are participant spaces?

  • Two sizes will be offered: 10 feet by 8 feet (10 feet is the frontage of the space.) and 8 feet by 8 feet. Both space sizes will be available at either gym.

13. Is the number of crafter/vendor types capped?

  • Yes and No. There is a cap on commercial vendors. For hand-made crafters, there is no cap, due to the unique abilities of each vendor. However, we take into consideration who is approved based on the description of their talents. For example, if five applicants make wreaths, we will accept the first two only, so as to not oversaturate the event with the same type craft.

14. How many crafters/vendors will the event hold?

  • There are 58 spots in the large gym and 34 spots in the small gym.

15. Can you describe the layout of your school?

  • Kennett has a very unique design in that we have two gymnasiums connected by one small hallway. In 2020, there will be additional and improved signage to direct shoppers to both areas, as well as, signs showing shoppers where to enter the building from the parking area.

16. I’m concerned that your Craft Fair is only from 10 a.m to 2 p.m.. Will you extend the hours?

  • At this time, no. Our event is still growing. Vendors who were initially concerned about the 4 hour time frame, shared with us after last year’s event that the time frame was perfect. The people who came, came with the intent to make purchases and not “think about it.” (Please note we do not have statistics or control over what items sold better than others.)

17. Will you consider holding the Craft Fair before Christmas?

  • At this time, no. There are few local spring craft fairs and therefore, we are trying to capitalize on this market. Additionally, there are many craft fairs at other schools in our area during the fall. It would be difficult to obtain as many vendors and customers when events are occurring at the same time in other places.

18. Will you consider holding the Craft Show on a different day of the week or for an entire weekend?

  • At this time, no. The event will not be held on a weeknight. Our facility is used for too many other events, such as sports, and it would impact the school day too much because of site preparation, so that idea would not be feasible. Our event has not yet grown enough to consider a multiple day event.

19. Once I mail in my application, when and how will I hear if I have been accepted?

  • Applications will be date stamped the day they are received. You will receive an email no later than two weeks after receiving the application indicating acceptance or non-acceptance.

20. If my application is declined due to the Craft Fair being out of space, can I be placed on a wait list?

  • Yes! There will be an option on the application for you check if you want to be waitlisted. If you select yes, you will receive a phone call and an email notifying you if a cancellation occurs. Otherwise, your check and application will be held until the Monday after the Craft Fair in case you are selected. Checks and applications will be returned the Monday after the Craft Fair to anyone who was unable to obtain a spot. If you do not opt to be waitlisted, your check and application will be returned immediately after decline.

21. Will the date of the Craft Fair be the same every year?

  • No. The date will change from year to year due to events on our school calendar such as the Prom and spring break. The scheduled date will always occur in April or early May.

22. Do I have to walk up those big stairs of Kennett High School?

  • Crafters/Vendors will not be entering the gym from the main steps. We have doors near the gym that will be easy to load from and unload from. However, customers to the event will need to use the steps leading up to the main gym doors. (This is the same entrance people use to attend football games, if you have ever attended one at KHS.) We do have an elevator that can be used and we do have handicapped parking near the gym that students will direct people to who are in need of those services on the day of the event.

23. I’d like to share my spot with a friend of mine. Can I do that?

  • Yes! Please make sure that all names, phone numbers, and emails are included in the application and a primary contact.

24. I signed up to share a spot with my friend at the Craft Fair, but now I can’t participate. What happens to our spot?

  • If your friend is still participating, your friend will keep the spot. If your friend is no longer participating, we will remove you from the floor plan. It is your responsibility to discuss with your friend what they are doing. We do not get involved with personal matters. Application fees are non-refundable.

25. Can I purchase more than one spot?

  • Yes! Please indicate on your application the number and sizes of spots you need. You can purchase all the space you need, but there is not a discount for additional purchasing. A returning vendor, if requesting additional space, may have to be reassigned a new location to accommodate this additional need.

26. My craft is small and I need a spot smaller than 8x8.

  • We would be happy to have you participate at our event, however, we do not offer smaller spots. We have tried several floor plan options and the one we have is the best fit for our facility. You could have “extra” space in your area or you could consider partnering with a friend to share the space.

27. How much inventory do I bring to the Craft Fair?

  • This is an individual decision that we cannot answer. However, customers generally prefer looking at inventory, as opposed to, placing an order.
