J. Daniel Hutchins M.Ed.

J. Daniel Hutchins, M.Ed., is proud to serve as the Principal of Karnes City High School. With 24 years in education and 22 years in leadership roles, Mr. Hutchins brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to student success. He earned his Master of Educational Administration from Lamar University, a Bachelor of Music with a Vocal Performance emphasis from West Texas State University, and holds certifications in educational leadership, music, social studies, and fine arts. Currently Mr. Hutchins is completing work on his Texas Superintendent Certification as a member of the Texas Superintendent Certification Program in Region XIII. Now beginning his fourth year at Karnes City ISD, he is grateful to be part of a community that values excellence, tradition, and relationships.

As principal, Mr. Hutchins believes in servant leadership, integrity, and always putting students at the center of every decision. He is passionate about supporting teachers, believing they are the greatest influence on student success, and works to create a culture where educators feel empowered, trusted, and equipped to do their best work. He credits the outstanding teachers, support staff, and students at KCHS as the heart of the campus and is thankful for the facilities and opportunities the district provides to help every student succeed.

Mr. Hutchins' vision for KCHS is to earn an A accountability rating while graduating 100 percent of its students and preparing them to become the very best version of themselves. He believes that strong schools are built on relationships, accountability, unity, and high expectations paired with meaningful support. One of his favorite parts of each day is greeting students as they arrive each morning, and he hopes every graduate leaves KCHS knowing they were loved, safe, and challenged to grow into outstanding men and women. His message to students is simple: from here, you can go anywhere.

To Mr. Hutchins, being a Badger means being part of a family that stands together, overcomes challenges, and never gives up. He believes Badger Pride Never Dies because it is reflected every day in the character, resilience, and compassion of KCHS students. Whether in the classroom, on the field, on the stage, or in the community, he encourages students to do things OneWay by always choosing what is right. His favorite reminder to students and staff is one he shares often: "Have a great day, and GO BADGERS!"
