This school year, the ID Office launched a new Hooked on Books program, the Millionaire Club, to encourage students to read more. Awards such as a pin and a certificate are given to students who read 10,000 words or more! If you read 1 million words or more, your photo will even be displayed on a Millionaire Wall. “It’s not difficult to be a winner. I read in my spare time, like when waiting at a restaurant,” said Dorothy, a 500,000-word winner.
Some students might find it challenging to choose a suitable book to read. Dorothy added, “When I’m interested in a book, I look for other books written by the same author.” Mr. Payne also encouraged students to ask their teachers for book recommendations if they don’t know what to read. We hope more and more students at Kang Chiao will join the Millionaire Club!

The Christmas season just ended, filled with students’ laughter and joy. Throughout the month, students eagerly checked the Christmas calendar to see the event planned for each day. During every big break, there were crowds gathered somewhere around the school. Sometimes, students were listening to a Christmas story, while at other times, they were enjoying Christmas carols performed by our lovely G1 and G2 students dressed in green and red outfits. There were also long lines for tickets to DIY Reindeer Hot Chocolate Cones and for joining the Jolly Christmas Trivia.
“I’ve met Santa many times this month!” said one of the G4 students. “I also took a selfie with him and my friends.” We would like to thank all the teachers and office staff for creating an unforgettable Christmas for all the KCIS students.
