TO REGISTER FOR KCD GUITAR ENSEMBLE,
Your child will be picked up from their classroom by the lead teacher or the assistant.
Children will wash or sanitize their hands before and after snack as well as before dismissal
Snacks will be consumed outside the piano lab and students while maintaining the 3-foot minimum distancing between other students and faculty
Masks will remain on at all times other than during snack time.
When cleaning surfaces at KCD, staff will use a bleach solution per Healthy at School specifications.
All keyboards are wiped before and after use with rubbing alcohol
All classrooms will be sanitized at the end of each class period before a new group of students enters.
All restrooms are regularly sanitized throughout the day as are all high-traffic areas.
Students who show any signs of illness may not attend school. Click here for the CDC’s page on COVID-19 symptoms.
Students and faculty will be required to wash or sanitize their hands on entering the building, before and after eating lunch or snack, and at other frequent intervals throughout the day.
We are using the phrase “Hands, Face, Space” to remind students and faculty about the practices (outlined elsewhere on this page) that will keep them and others in our community safe. This simple phrase provides a consistent message about health and safety that can be used in age-appropriate ways in all three divisions.
Sanitizer stations are available at all main entry points.
Students must provide their own mask that meets these CDC recommendations.
Gaiter-style face coverings are not allowed. We have updated our dress code for 2020–21 to include the following guidelines for masks: “All face masks or face coverings must meet the standard of Governor Beshear’s executive order dated July 7, 2020.
Masks must be worn at all times, both indoors and out. The only exceptions include:
Masks may be off for snack time only. AS soon as snacks are consumed, students must put their masks back on.
Masks may not feature words, letters, images, or symbols and must either be solid color or a single pattern (plaid, polka dot, etc.) while avoiding all political and/or potentially divisive symbols or markings.
Students who arrive on campus without a mask will be provided one by the school nurse or division assistant.
Social distancing is a way of preventing what the CDC describes as close contact. For the CDC, close contact is an important factor in determining the risk associated with the transmission of COVID-19. Our entire community will maintain six feet of distancing at all times in all organized settings.
Water fountains
Students will not be permitted to drink from water fountains. Each student should bring their own water bottle to school (labeled with the student's name) and may re-fill that bottle from water stations during the day.
Campus access
Kentucky’s Healthy at School guidelines require us to limit the number of visitors to campus, including parents. Parents or guardians who need to enter a campus building must first call their division assistant to state the reason for their visit. All visitors must be greeted at the door and pass a temperature check and screening in order to remain on campus. All visitors must follow our safety protocols around masks, hand and respiratory hygiene, and social distancing.
The same safety and hygiene protocols will be observed during both class meetings and performances. All audience members will be required to be masked--no exceptions.
