WHO ARE WE?

Kia ora, we are Room 5 and 6 at Kawakawa Primary School.

We are Years 6,7 and 8.

Our teachers are Whaea Dana and Matua Paul

There are 25 students in each classroom.

Whaea Dana

Kia ora koutou, I have been teaching for 13 years at Kawakawa Primary School and love it here. I enjoy teaching, especially helping my students to reach their full potential and find their passion for learning. I like teaching sports, science, visual arts, maths and reading. In my spare time I love to relax at the beach or sit in a quiet space and read. I also like to spend time with my whanau and friends.

My personal goals for this year is to improve my te reo Maori so I use it more within and outside the classroom, and also to improve my digital technology skills, especially in coding and film making.

Matua Paul

Kia ora koutou. My name is Paul Lindsay. I have been teaching in Northland schools for just over twenty years, Prior to that I have taught in Australia, Papua New Guinea and England. I believe that the most important factor in the teaching and learning cycle is the relationship between the student and the teacher. I intend to try to build a strong relationship with each child by getting to know them, who they are, who they are connected to and where they’re from. I particularly like teaching mathematics although reading and writing are equally important. I love sport and physical education, especially water sports. I’m really looking forward to working with the students from Kawakawa Primary School in 2020.
