Mrs. Poudrier

Mrs. Poudrier (she/her) was born and raised in San Diego where she attended San Diego State University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies in 2011. Then in 2013 she graduated with a Master's in Special Education from Grand Canyon University. She has been teaching and supporting students with and without disabilities since 2014 and has been teaching at Kavod since the 2017-2018 school year.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, enjoying live music, traveling to new places around the world, and going to the zoo with her husband and son, Oliver.

Mrs. Jorstad

Originally from Clairemont, Mrs. Jorstad is thrilled to be returning to her roots and joining the Kavod team! Passionate about the arts from a young age, she pursued a BA from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, majoring in Vocal Performance.

Working at a Montessori School she discovered the joy in helping young learners find their own passions and decided to pursue a career in early childhood education. She completed a Master in Teaching from Seattle University and spent the next 10 years teaching kindergarten at a vibrant elementary school in the greater Seattle area. Her school families spoke 29 languages and the community and coworkers inspired her daily.

She was also fortunate enough to be able to take a cultural leave and travel and teach in Costa Rica for a year. She taught Music and movement at a Montessori school in the Cloud Forests of Monteverde. She is connected with the community and looks forward to each visit.

Mrs. Christenson

Elementary Counselor

Missy grew up in Salem, NY which is a very very small town in upstate New York. She received her BA in psychology in 2016 from SUNY New Paltz. She has lived in San Diego for 3 years and recently graduated from National University with a masters in Educational Counseling. This is her first year at Kavod and first year as a school counselor but she has been working with children since 2016 in various capacities including as a behavior interventionist and as a domestic violence children's specialist. Missy is very passionate about dogs and has 3 of her own and spends her spare time volunteering at a local dog rescue. In fact, Oilver will be her counseling assistant this year and will work to make students and staff happier. In addition to her 3 dogs, Missy lives with husband. Fun Fact: Missy received the job offer at Kavod on her wedding day!

Mr. Valeriano

Mr. Valeriano is a proud San Diego native with a love for education and youth development. He received his BA in International Relations from the University of San Diego and began working in the field of education in 2018 until returning back to USD to earn his MEd and teaching credentials. He joined the Kavod family in January of 2021. When not in the classroom you can find him running on the 101 or practicing yoga.

Ms. Holman

Middle School Counselor

Ms. Holman has worked in the mental health field professionally for three years! She graduated from University of San Diego in 2020 with a Master’s Degree in School Counseling, as well as Clinical Counseling. Before finishing her masters program, she received a TESOL certification to teach English, completed training in play therapy and trauma informed care, and attended three conferences abroad focused on addictions counseling, play therapy and school based counseling. Ms. Holman believes that a holistic approach to counseling is the most beneficial for students, and she works hard to make each of my students feel supported and empowered to advocate and succeed. Ms. Holman is also hoping to continue to connect with my students' families and community more this year!

Ms. Holman grew up in Lake Tahoe and loves skiing, camping and being outdoors! She has a year and a half old sheepadoodle named Molly who just passed therapy dog training!
