Auditions

• Each camper is asked to submit a video audition to determine ensemble placement.  There is a place for every student regardless of ability level.  The audition is not meant to cause stress or anxiety.  It is only a guide for our staff to provide the best experience for all campers.

Closing Concert

• On the last day of the camp, we will have a Closing Concert to showcase all of the campers.  Families are encouraged to attend!  The concert will begin at 3:30pm in the Performing Arts Center at Freeman High School.

Band Camp Theme Days

• Tuesday - Spirit Day! - wear your school's band shirt

• Wednesday - Neon Day! - wear your brightest colors

• Thursday - Sports Day! - represent your favorite sports team

• Friday - Performance Day! - wear your camp shirt (handed out during camp), school-appropriate shorts or jeans

Q. Who can attend the Summer Jazz Workshop?

A. This camp is open to all students entering grades 7-12 with at least one year of playing experience.

Q. My student has never played jazz before.  Should my child attend camp?

A. Yes! Our camp is designed to give students of all experience levels a great week.

Q. What can I expect each day at camp?

A. Camp runs Tuesday through Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm.  Students can be dropped off starting at 8:00am for check in at PAC lobby.  Students will spend the morning rotating between rehearsals, sectionals, and electives.  We will have a camp gathering before our lunch break to watch the "Concert Series" performances.

Q. Does camp provide lunch for students?

A. Lunch will NOT be provided.  Students should bring a sack lunch each day.

Q. What is the "Concert Series"?

A. There is nothing like live music!  At the Summer Jazz Workshop, students will experience live music in our daily "Concert Series".  Ranging from professional big bands to jazz combos, the "Concert Series" features top-notch musicians.  What a great opportunity for our campers to experience jazz from professional musicians!
