OUR PURPOSE

The Katy Cavaliers Youth Lacrosse Club promotes and develops the sport of lacrosse amoung the youth in the Katy community. We provide opportunities for players to embrace the concepts of teamwork and leadership. We promote our players compete with high EFFORT, a good ATTITUDE and coachability, and treat all teammates, competitors, coaches, and parents with SPORTSMANSHIP. Our goal for the program is to develop lacrosse players with the outcome being the results on the field.

CLUB HISTORY

In 2005 a group of enthusiastic parents formed the Katy Cavaliers Youth Lacrosse Club. With only one team consisting of 7th and 8th graders the youth program began playing with other clubs already established in the Houston area. A few seasons later the club added a 5th and 6th grade team, dubbed the “Young Guns” and divided the original team into separate 7th and 8th grade teams. Although the Cavaliers program contemplated merging with another local youth club in 2008 and 2009, a successful recruiting effort doubled the number of players in the 2010 season. In 2014, the Katy Cavaliers Youth program merged with the Katy Valkyries, the local girls lacrosse program, making it the largest youth lacrosse club in the Houston area and building a complete lacrosse program for players from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Michael Wilems

2U Coach

We are excited to have Michael Wilems coach our 2026 Katy Youth Lacrosse 2U team. Michael has been involved in the Texas lacrosse community since 2008. He has 5 children who have played lacrosse at all levels from youth to college. Michael has coached 2U, 4U, and 6U youth boys teams for Hylax and Klein and was the 2025 6U boys coach for Katy. Michael served as an assistant coach for the Lake Travis (Austin) girls High School team and also played several years in the Houston area men's lacrosse league for local area clubs. We are excited to have Michael return as our Cavs 2U coach in 2026!

Patrick England

4U Coach

We are excited to have Patrick England coach our 2026 Katy Youth Lacrosse Club 4U team. The 2025 season was Patrick's first year of involvement with the program as his son started playing with the 2U Katy Cavs team. Patrick volunteered to coach one of the 2U teams leading the boys to a successful season and having several of the 2025 players join travel teams in the summer and fall. We are excited to welcome Patrick as the coach of our youth 4U team in 2026!

Christian Venzor

6U Coach

We welcome Christian to the Katy Cavaliers Youth club as the 2026 6U head coach. Christian is a student at the University of Houston majoring in Child Psychology and is a member of the Cougars lacrosse club as an attackman leading the team in points scored. Christian played high school lacrosse with Langham Creek, where he was one of the team’s top scorers in his senior year. He started his lacrosse journey with the Langham Creek youth club while improving his skillset with several seasons of travel lacrosse including seasons with Legacy Lacrosse club, coached by the new Katy High School coach Jason Smith, and the Dirty Birds lacrosse club. We are excited to have Christian coach our Cavs youth 6U team in 2026!

Josh Orgeron

8U Coach

In 2026, Josh Orgeron will serve as head coach of the Katy Cavaliers Youth Lacrosse 8U team. Josh is a student at the University of Houston where he majors in Finance and is a member of the Cougars lacrosse club as a defenseman. Josh held the position of head coach for the Katy Cavaliers High School JV team in 2025, coaching with the new Katy High School coach Jason Smith, as well as Defensive Coordinator for the Storm Lacrosse Club in 2023 through 2025. A graduate of Tompkins High School Josh played lacrosse for the Katy Cavaliers high school squad on defense receiving the Team Leadership Award in 2023. We are excited to have Josh coach our Cavs youth 8U team in 2026!
