The Artist of the Month competition at Kaohsiung American School (KAS) is a monthly celebration of student creativity, skill, and originality in the visual arts. Each month, three winners are selected:
1st Place: Certificate + Artwork is professionally framed.
2nd & 3rd Place: Certificate + A small reward in recognition of the artistic achievements.
This competition is open to all middle school students, and we encourage everyone to submit their best work! Show us your creativity and talent, and you might be our next Artist of the Month!
Artwork must be turned in to Ms. Fournier physically before each month's deadline.
Work must indicate participant's name/class clearly.
Work must be personal work, not school/classwork.
Art work must be 100% made by participant(s).
Material is up to the participant. Material are not provided by school.
Artwork must be original to participant(s), not a copy of another person's art or photo.
Artwork must be entered with a title or a printed/written description.
All artworks must be school appropriate.
Winners are chosen based on the following key aspects:
Techniques & Skills: Demonstrates a strong understanding and masterful use of materials. Shows effective use of art elements such as color, line, texture, and form.
Composition: Thoughtful arrangement of elements within the artwork. The use of space enhances visual impact, making the piece both eye-catching and aesthetically pleasing.
Originality: Artwork reflects the unique vision of the artist. It should not be copied or heavily influenced by existing works in terms of style, composition, or subject matter.
