PROSPECTS OF ALGAE IN FOOD, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT, AND ENERGY - 2026 (PAFHEE’26)
13 & 14th March, 2026
Pre Conference Workshop on 12th March 2026
Pre Conference Workshop on 12th March 2026
Algae are emerging as a powerful source of sustainable nutrition, offering proteins, essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants. Their high nutritive value and eco-friendly production make them ideal for developing functional foods, dietary supplements, and health-promoting ingredients that support global food security.
Rich in bioactive molecules, algae hold immense promise in modern medicine. Their natural compounds exhibit antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and anticancer activities, paving the way for innovative therapeutics, drug delivery systems, wound healing applications, and regenerative healthcare solutions.
With their rapid growth rate and high lipid content, microalgae represent a sustainable and renewable feedstock for next-generation biofuels. Algal biomass can be converted into biodiesel, bioethanol, biogas, and green hydrogen, offering cleaner alternatives to fossil fuels and contributing to a carbon-neutral energy future.
Algae play a significant role in restoring environmental balance through bioremediation. Their ability to absorb heavy metals, pollutants, and excess nutrients makes them effective in wastewater treatment and ecosystem restoration. Additionally, algae contribute to carbon sequestration, supporting global efforts to combat climate change and enhance climate resilience.
Advancements in algal biotechnology and metabolic engineering are unlocking new pathways for producing high-value biomolecules. Through genetic enhancement and process optimization, algae can be tailored to synthesize pharmaceuticals, pigments, enzymes, and bio-based materials, transforming them into efficient bio-factories for industrial and research applications.
