About KAPMI

Kateel Ashok Pai Memorial Institute (KAPMI) is a fledging college started by Manasa Trust, Shivamogga. Late. Dr. K A Ashok Pai, was an internationally renowned community psychiatrist, writer, film maker, philanthropist and a pioneer in the field of mental health. KAPMI (Affiliated to Kuvempu University and Recognized by the Govt. of Karnataka) started in memory of this great visionary, aims to provide higher education in the field of psychology and humanities, in an attempt to build a healthier society.

KAPMI located in the heart of Shivamogga city, is very close to main bus and railway station. The college is well equipped and self-contained, providing an enriching academic atmosphere. It has spacious and well-ventilated classrooms, a library well equipped with reference books, journals, e-books, reading room facility. Modernized teaching aids, medical consultancy, computer lab, psychology lab & Student friendly amenities.

As an academic institution KAPMI strives to shape young students who can become professionals and contributes as citizens of the nation. The college is committed to the all-round personality development of students by providing opportunities to participate in a wide variety of cultural activities, separate training programs and competitions designed to bring out their best talents. The college has well qualified teaching faculty who not only have concern for academic excellence but also provide motivation for personality development. About Library

The KAPMI Libraries support the mission of the Collegiate Education, embracing the traditional values of Higher Education adapted for the global community in the 21st century. The Libraries build collections and provide access to information and services to support teaching, Students, research and creative endeavours. To create to the academic need of the students of UG & PG level with an institution planning and University Curriculum implementation. To Motivate and organize students for self-learning through the use of internet and Library. The purpose of the Libraries is to identify, acquire, organize, store, and provide on-demand access to the available intellectual and research products of scholars and students.

KAPMI Library functions as the primary Information Resources center and it has all facilities required information in the form of books, journals and internet access for e-journals. Apart from these, the library houses a growing collection of reference books, journals and previous year question papers, general ref. books and competitive exam books.

The library remains open during college hours. In spite of space constraints our college possesses a little but equipped library both for reading and lending of books meant for the students as well as Staffs.

The books are classified according to the Dewey decimal classification. Library has a open access system and fully computerized with the implementation of Koha (open source Integrated Library System ) along with Barcode system.

Objectives

The objective of the library is to assist the parent organization in achieving its goals by providing physical and intellectual access to information, keeping with the present and the anticipated functions of the institute.

Librarian conveys to subordinates his/her preliminary thinking on the goals of the library. Improving the services, barriers in the way of services, changes necessary to bring the improvement.

Library Renovation

Library has been renovated with new modified structure creating more space for stacking books as well as enhancing reading facility. E-Library with 3 computers to access Open Access Resources and free internet surfing are attractions for the students.

Circulation : 10.00 AM to 05.00 P M
