At ARKIS we offer two pathways to students in Grade 11, they can either choose to take up the full IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) or opt for IB Courses.
Each one has a difference eligibility criteria which will be discussed below.
Along with the clearly highlighted differences between the two pathways, the following also needs to be considered:
CAS for IB Courses students is a school graduation requirement.
IB Courses students can opt for the subjects they wish to sit for the IB exams in Grade 12. They will receive an IB certificate for the subjects they appeared for in the IB exams.
Religion is a mandatory subject for both IBDP and IB Courses students. Non-muslim students are exempted from this requirement.
As an IBDP student you have to fulfill the following criteria;
You must have a Math, and two languages (English & Arabic) etc.
One of the Language must be from Group 1, and the other must be from Group 2.
English A: Language & Literature (HL) is only available to students who have taken English as First Language in IGCSE.
You must have 3 Higher level and 3 Standard level subjects (6 subjects in total).
The six subjects must be a combination of either (one Group 1 subject + one Group 2 subject + one Group 5 subject + 2 Group 4 subjects + 1 Group 3 subject) OR (one Group 1 subject + one Group 2 subject + one Group 5 subject + 2 Group 3 subjects + 1 Group 4 subject)
You are not allowed to take more than 2 Sciences courses.
You are not allowed to take more than 2 Individuals and Societies courses.
While registering you will only choose ONE subject from any 6 blocks.
Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) and Extended Essay (EE) is mandatory for all IB Diploma Students
IB Courses are enrolled to English B HL, Arabic B HL and Math AI SL. The three other subjects can be opted as per the students choice.
Minimum of 5 Grade 'C' in the IGCSE grades
Must pass the school entrance exam (New admissions only)
Students holding Egyptian, Jordanian or other International students MUST completely be enrolled into the IBDP as the high school diploma is not recognized by their Ministry of Education. Therefore, these students must make an effort to meet the IGCSE requirements in order to be enrolled into the Diploma programme.
