Concept of Acceptance

Accepting is the first step to learning to love our differences, understanding and appreciating what others bring to our lives. The concept of acceptance for kids refers to teaching children the importance of embracing and respecting differences in themselves and others. It involves helping children understand that everyone is unique and has their own strengths, weaknesses, and qualities that make them special. The ability to accept others even if they are different and feel compassion for them is an essential component of social competency. This is just as important as any academic training. Socially competent children are more successful in life. Acceptance is a whole family principle because it enhances our relationship with others and ourselves. By accepting your children and teaching them the positive principle of acceptance, you will help them live a happier, more peaceful life, and to grow up to be successful adults. Teaching acceptance in the classroom is an important and valuable goal for educators. Fostering a culture of acceptance helps create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel respected and valued.

The ultimate goal is to teach our kids to love themselves and others, celebrate and embrace differences and appreciate what their interactions teach them about themselves and life at large. Remember, promoting acceptance is an ongoing effort that requires consistent commitment from both educators and students. By implementing these strategies, educators can create a classroom environment where acceptance, respect, and inclusion are deeply valued and practised.

Stories help us to remember and imagine. When children hear stories, it can help them to learn about important values as they are introduced to new ideas, and exercise their creative thinking. A recap of the story on Quality-Patience was done using puppets. Learners tried to retell the story in their own words and gave answers to the questions related to the story. Picture talk and conversation help children to increase their vocabulary as well as their general knowledge. It strengthens their visual thinking skills. Picture talk- On the beach was done, where the picture was shown, and learners were asked to observe and talk about the picture. As a reinforcement, a recap of s, a, t, p, I, n, c, k, and e helped them to recognize the uppercase and lowercase letters by producing their correct phonic sound and knowing the associated pictures by its name and this was best done with a magnetic matching activity and engagement for all the learners.

Letter crafts are a great way to practice letter recognition. Focusing on one specific letter and creating something special will help learners to recognize and remember the letter. This week's letters ”s” activity was conducted. Learners were asked to stick the cut out of the letter S and then stick small pipe cleaner pieces to make it form like scales, also adding googly eyes and making a tongue using crayons.  It was a super cute craft that helped kids to develop a good idea of what the letter S looks like. Roleplay develops speaking and listening skills and also develops communication skills in toddlers. Role play on Myself was conducted where learners spoke a few sentences and shared knowledge using gestures and facial expressions. This activity helped learners to develop communication skills and physical mannerisms that help them later on in life.

Teaching the concepts of “hot” and “cold” to pre-primary school children is an engaging and important topic, understanding these concepts is essential for their daily lives. The teacher took a recapitulation of this topic by displaying the images of objects associated with “hot” and “cold” to help children associate visuals with the concepts. Then the learners sorted the images into hot and cold categories. The teacher also shared relatable examples like hot soup and cold ice cream to illustrate the concepts in everyday life and make them aware of the importance of being cautious around hot objects and substances. Our little mathematicians are not only learning to count, but they are also discovering the magic of grouping objects in tens to make counting easier.  In our classrooms, we believe in learning through play and interaction. Through a variety of engaging activities, our students are becoming familiar with these concepts. They are using tens frame and circle cut-outs to place them on the frame according to the number selected by them. The teacher also incorporated backward counting 10 to 1 Activity to foster a deeper understanding of numbers in a fun and interactive way.

School Safety has been defined as creating a safe environment for children, starting from their homes o their schools and back. This includes safety from any kind of abuse, violence, Psycho-social issue, disaster, natural and manmade, fire, and transportation. Safety rules for kids are necessary, and they should always be followed to keep themselves and others safe. Children must stay away from dangerous things and not play with fire. It is also important to keep water that is too cold or too hot away. They should not climb up high places without adult supervision. Ensure each child is valued, respected, feels safe and secure, and develops a positive self-concept. Enable a sound foundation for the physical and motor development of each child as per the child’s potential.

Art

Elements of Art (2D geometric shapes)

We focused on teaching the elements of art, including shapes. We engaged the students by introducing various shapes such as circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles. They explored creating artwork using these shapes, helping them develop their understanding of basic forms in visual art.

STREAM

A STREAM activity uses elements of Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Art and Math to solve problems. All STREAM activities are inquiry-based, which means they are designed to answer a question. STREAM can help children continue to develop those tendencies by experiencing rich opportunities for exploration and discovery. The teacher did a recapitulation of all the activities with the learners. This helps to reinforce the material and ensure that students have a thorough understanding of the concepts.

Literacy Circle

Literacy circle reading exposes young children to a wide range of vocabulary, sentence structures, and language patterns. Through reading, children learn new words, phrases, and expressions that help them build their own vocabulary and develop their communication skills. Sight word reading introduces children to a broad range of vocabulary. Sight words-  the, and, his, has, he, she are often high-frequency and are commonly used in written texts. As children encounter and read these sight words, they expand their vocabulary and enhance their overall language skills. Three-letter words are the building blocks of simple sentences. As children become proficient in reading three-letter words, they can combine these words to create meaningful and coherent sentences. This enables them to express themselves through writing and reading more complex texts. Words can, pan, tan, cat, pat, and sat were drilled using phonic sounds and actions for a more clear concept

Math

Learners with strong early math skills are better equipped to handle problem-solving tasks than those who do not have the same level of skills. This is because early math skills take more than just learning how to count and add. It involves learning how to identify patterns and relationships, too. Beyond cognitive benefits, shape sorting for learners plays a pivotal role in developing their fine motor skills. Different shapes were put in a tub filled with water and learners were given strainers. Learners sorted the shapes which were spheres in shapes. Learners enjoyed this activity. Learning about colors helps learners to sort, organize, categorize, and compare objects. Color mixing is a great unit for developing fine motor skills and color awareness. Learners were given colors and droppers they were asked to make orange color by mixing colors. They were provided with tissue paper they took red and yellow colors with the dropper and dropped them on the tissue paper to make orange. Recapitulation of backward numbers from 20 to 1 and numbers names from 1 to 10 was done in their math notebook. A recap of the concept of top and bottom was done with the help of concrete objects, learners were shown the concrete objects and asked about the top and bottom position of the objects placed.
