Unlocking Potential: How AI Supports Diverse Learning in Kids

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is slowly becoming a helpful partner in early education. In preschool years, every child learns uniquely. Some enjoy stories, some love numbers, while others learn best through play. AI supports these different learning styles by making lessons more interactive, personalized, and engaging. With the help of AI-powered tools, stories can come alive with sounds, animations, and pictures, making reading time more exciting. Simple apps can encourage children to draw, sing, or solve puzzles, helping them strengthen creativity, language, and problem-solving skills. AI can also adapt to each child’s pace, giving extra practice when needed or offering new challenges when a child is ready.

For teachers, AI provides insights into children’s progress and interests, making it easier to plan activities that match their needs. For children, it creates a safe, playful, and supportive space to explore and discover new things. Most importantly, AI is not a replacement for teachers or parents it is a tool that works alongside them to give children more opportunities to learn, imagine, and unlock their full potential. With thoughtful use, AI can make early learning joyful, inclusive, and full of possibilities.

CLASSROOM CONNECTION

This week in preschool, our little learners explored new concepts through songs, stories, and hands-on activities. During circle-time games, they practised sharing and speaking in complete sentences, building confidence in communication. They also strengthened early literacy skills by identifying letters and sounds, while creative art and craft activities gave them the freedom to express their imagination. Through guided play, children discovered the joy of working together, taking turns, and celebrating each other’s ideas. Each classroom moment continues to nurture their curiosity, creativity, and love for learning.

NURSERY

ENGLISH

This week in phonics, learners were introduced to the sounds /c/ (cat, cup), /k/ (kite, king), and /e/ (egg, elephant). They explored how c and k can make the same sound—an exciting but tricky concept!

The sounds were taught through engaging activities like:

Focused colouring (carrot, car, cup, cap)
Paper-folding kites
Marble printing for the /e/ sound

Learners enjoyed songs, flashcards, and practice worksheets, helping them recognise and use the sounds with growing confidence.

We also introduced sight words, common words recognised by sight without sounding them out. Using flashcards and the interactive Parking Lot activity, learners practised word repetition in a fun, hands-on way. They are now beginning to identify these words in books and classroom displays.

MATH

This week, learners revisited circle and triangle through a fun sorting activity. Two trees one with a circle and the other with a triangle were created on a white sheet. Children sorted and pasted matching shape cutouts onto the correct tree, enhancing their observation, sorting, and fine motor skills. They were also introduced to the number 2 and its value. Through rainbow tracing of numbers 1 and 2, learners strengthened their numeracy and pre-writing skills in an engaging, hands-on way.

THEME

Learners explored the theme “My Family” through songs, flashcards, and interactive activities. They learned that a family is a special group of people who love, care for, and support each other. Children identified family members such as parents, grandparents, and siblings, and enjoyed sharing about their own families with peers. This theme helped them develop a sense of belonging and security, while also learning values like sharing, caring, and respect. They began to understand and appreciate that families may look different, but each one is equally special.

JR.KG

ENGLISH

Learners enhanced their focus and concentration through engaging in drawing activities. They revisited letter writing by practising correct formations and reinforced phonics to strengthen letter–sound associations. Reading activities introduced them to blends, helping them combine sounds to form meaningful words. Picture-based interactions further developed their observation skills and encouraged them to speak in complete sentences. Revisiting the story, Tom and the Golden Rule enriched their comprehension, improved sequencing abilities, and deepened their understanding of the moral values conveyed in the story.

MATH

Our learners have shown commendable progress in numeracy by confidently writing numbers 1–15 and counting backwards from 10–1. This reflects their growing grasp of number formation, sequencing, and numerical relationships. They also enhanced their emotional intelligence by exploring happy and sad emotions, helping them better recognise and understand different feelings. In addition, their problem-solving skills were evident as they successfully identified missing numbers, demonstrating critical thinking and logical reasoning. These achievements highlight their developing cognitive abilities, emotional growth, and enthusiasm for learning, laying a strong foundation for future academic success.

THEME

This month, our little learners explored essential life skills through a variety of engaging activities. They enjoyed a role play on personal safety, learning how to stay safe in simple, everyday situations. A quick recap of personal hygiene habits reinforced the importance of cleanliness, while a revision of good manners highlighted how polite words and actions create a positive impact. A fun review of the sense organs helped them understand how they use their senses to explore the world around them. Finally, through stories and activities, learners revisited emotions, encouraging them to recognise and express their feelings in healthy and constructive ways.

SR.KG

ENGLISH

This week, children revisited rhyming words through lively songs and games, reinforcing their learning with a creative drawing activity. They also enjoyed playing “Look at the Picture and Peg the Word” using ‘a and ‘e’ family words, which strengthened their phonics and word recognition skills. Learners were introduced to long vowel sounds with ‘ai’ and ‘ae’ words, exploring their usage through engaging reading and oral activities. The story “The Magic Shell” was recapped through interactive class activities. These experiences helped children confidently identify rhyming pairs, expand their vocabulary, recognise a and ‘e’ family words, and understand long vowel sounds.

MATH

Recapitulation plays a vital role in children’s learning and memory retention. It helps solidify their understanding of concepts, identify gaps in knowledge, and boost confidence by highlighting their progress. It also promotes active recall, which is more effective for long-term memory than passive reading. In this recap session, learners strengthened their numerical skills by practising number writing in sequence, exploring the place value of tens and ones, revisiting reverse number sequencing, and developing positional awareness through the concept of top and bottom. These activities not only reinforced their learning but also enhanced memory recall and built greater confidence.

THEME

Learners were introduced to the concept of hobbies through a cheerful rhyme, where they joyfully recited and enacted activities such as reading, dancing, drawing, and playing. They also completed a worksheet and participated in an interactive role play on Healthy and Unhealthy Food and Internal Organs. During the activity, children confidently shared the importance of eating right and how our organs help keep us strong and active. These experiences enriched their vocabulary, built confidence, encouraged self-expression, and promoted awareness about healthy living in an enjoyable way.

READING PROGRAM

Nursery- Our little learners had an engaging time exploring the Fitzroy Reader Sound Book, focusing on the new sounds /c/, /k/, and /e/. They enjoyed interactive sessions, tracing letters with their fingers and connecting sounds to meaningful pictures. These activities supported the development of early literacy skills in a fun and hands-on way.

Jr.Kg- Learners enthusiastically engaged in literacy activities that strengthened multiple skills. They read the story Tom Cat and Jim Rat, which supported their reading fluency and comprehension. To enhance vocabulary, they completed exercises from Fitzroy Word Skills 2X. A fun “Good Ears” game followed, where the teacher called out words and learners carefully underlined them, sharpening their listening, attention, and word recognition skills in an enjoyable way.

Sr.Kg- As part of our Reading Program, learners practised reading using the SAAR application and explored the Fitzroy Reader on the topic “The Bear.” These sessions supported the development of word recognition, pronunciation, and comprehension, while also boosting their confidence in reading aloud.

CIRCLE TIME

Each day began with positive affirmations like “I am fine, I am good” to build confidence and self-belief. Learners also practised simple yoga poses and mindful breathing, promoting calmness, focus, and emotional well-being. These daily routines created a positive, peaceful start to the day, helping children grow into calm, confident, and kind individuals.

PLAYLAB

Our young learners participated in exciting math activities that nurtured their problem-solving skills and creativity. Through block building, they enhanced their spatial awareness and deepened their understanding of shapes and structures. Engaging in sorting games helped them explore categorisation, recognise patterns, and understand relationships between objects. By counting blocks, shapes, and objects, they practised number recognition and basic arithmetic skills. These hands-on experiences made learning fun and interactive while laying a strong foundation for future mathematical development.

HORTICULTURE

Jr.Kg- During the horticulture sessions, our little learners took part in a hands-on hibiscus planting activity, where they discovered how new plants can grow from stem cuttings. They carefully prepared hibiscus branches by removing the leaves and dipping them in water, observing the process of growth without using seeds. This activity nurtured their curiosity, strengthened observation skills, and fostered a love for nature while teaching them an important concept—that plants can also grow from stem cuttings.

Sr.Kg- Planting seeds with children is a wonderful way to engage them in learning about nature and responsibility. It nurtures patience, sharpens observation skills, and builds an appreciation for the natural world. Gardening activities also help improve mood, reduce stress, and encourage healthy eating habits, while promoting awareness of plant growth stages. During their horticulture sessions, learners enjoyed planting fenugreek seeds step by step, observing the process with curiosity. This activity not only strengthened their connection with nature but also added a refreshing and engaging dimension to their school experience.

ACTIVITY TIME

This week, our learners participated in a variety of fun, skill-building activities. In Splat the Sight Words, they practised reading fluency and word recognition in an engaging way. Through paper-cutting, they explored their creativity while strengthening fine motor skills, hand–eye coordination, and careful handling of materials. Journal Writing encouraged them to express their thoughts freely, enhancing writing skills and boosting confidence in communication. Together, these activities nurtured focus, creativity, and language development, while fostering independence and self-expression.

YOGA

Nursery- Topic: Butterfly 🦋 Pose
This week, our little learners practised the Butterfly Yoga Pose! Sitting with the soles of their feet touching, they gently flapped their knees up and down like butterfly wings. This fun and calming pose improved their flexibility, focus, and coordination while also sparking imaginative movement. The session was filled with smiles and gentle stretches!

Jr. KG- Topic: Mountain ⛰️ Pose
Our Jr. KG learners practised the Mountain Yoga Pose! Standing tall with feet together and hands by their sides, children learned to balance their bodies and focus their minds. This simple yet powerful pose helped enhance posture, stability, and body awareness—making it a wonderful start to building strength and calmness through yoga.

Sr. KG- Topic: Cow 🐄 Pose
Sr. KG learners enjoyed practising the Cow Yoga Pose! On their hands and knees, they gently lifted their heads and curved their backs, just like a happy cow. This playful pose improved spinal flexibility, encouraged deep breathing, and brought a sense of calm.

ART

Nursery – Collage Inspired by Alma Thomas
Nursery learners explored the vibrant abstract art of Alma Thomas. Inspired by her joyful patterns, they created colourful collages using torn paper, building creativity, fine motor skills, and colour recognition.

Jr. KG – Inspired by Piet Mondrian
Jr. KG children learned about Piet Mondrian’s famous style of bold lines and primary colours. They designed their own Mondrian-inspired artworks with paper shapes, enhancing creativity and pattern recognition.

Sr. KG – Yarn Pen Art
Sr. KG learners experimented with Yarn Pen Art, creating abstract designs with lines, loops, and textures. This hands-on activity encouraged imagination, fine motor skills, and creative expression through mixed media art.

School Tour

The learners went on a guided tour of their school, exploring key areas like the reception, principal’s office, canteen, medical room, library, and classrooms. They were excited to discover the purpose of each space and how it contributes to their daily school life. The tour was both fun and informative, helping them feel more connected to their learning environment.

Event

Ganpati Celebration

The Ganpati Celebration was held on 26th August 2026 at Kanakia International School with great enthusiasm and devotion. Learners actively participated by singing devotional songs, performing aarti, and presenting cultural dances dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The celebration not only brought joy and festive spirit but also helped children understand the values of faith, togetherness, and cultural traditions. It was a beautiful blend of learning and festivity, leaving everyone with cherished memories and a heart full of devotion.
