Celebrating festivals at school.
Festivals are a great way to understand one's culture. A child can be taught more about their culture and their country during festivals and celebrations. This teaches them about their roots in the world and makes them proud of their country and culture. For the early years learner, celebrating a festival will help them to develop the bond between them and their society and all the world also that's why it's necessary to introduce and celebrate the events for the children to let them understand, explore, learn and enjoy more with understanding and celebrating different festivals.
Every festival has its charm and the kids enjoy it the most for sure. Parents and teachers have the responsibility of not only making sure that the preschool kids enjoy every festival but also learning as many things as possible from them. Festivals are not just mere celebrations of a day. All of them carry a story behind them and offer a lot of positives that can be a great influence on any child. It can ignite several moral values, and help them in differentiating between the good and the bad. We are fortunate to be living in a country where cultural diversification allows you to go to an extent and teach as many life lessons as possible to young minds through our history.

During the session, the teacher had a well-structured phonics lesson for the students. Introducing the sounds /d/ and /g/ along with associated pictures was a great way to engage visual learners. The hands-on activities, such as finger-tip painting and tracing with crayons, provided tactile reinforcement for the students, helping them connect the phonetic sounds to the visual representation of the letters.
Additionally, the cylindrical bar dabbing activity was done to create grapes is a creative way to incorporate fine motor skills and art into the lesson. Tracing bumpy and humpy lines further reinforced letter recognition and pencil control.
Math
The introduction of the orange colour was done during the session with the help of concrete objects. The use of concrete objects like orange crayons and popsicle sticks, as well as hands-on activities like threading with straws, was a great way to promote active learning and enhance fine motor skills. Introducing the concept of a square shape through both visual and kinesthetic methods, along with a rhyme, added a multi-sensory dimension to the learning experience. This approach is likely to be effective in helping the learners grasp and retain the concept of a square shape.

Introducing community helpers through visual aids and hands-on experiences like costumes and tools can be very effective in making the concept relatable for young learners. During this week the teacher started the session by showing images of different community helpers and later the learners were introduced to the community helper 'Doctor' with the help of the costume i.e 'Lab coat' and medical instruments used by the doctors.
As a recap of the topic "school' learners did a worksheet where they identified and coloured things they carry in their school bag.

Tracing letters in the sand can be an effective way to help learners develop fine motor skills and reinforce letter recognition. Learners did an activity of tracing letters /d/ and /m/ in the sand following up with writing in notebooks which provided a nice transition to paper-based practice.
Encourage learners to be as imaginative as they want to be and to add their own unique touches to their drawings. Learners were asked to draw pictures associated with the letters in their scrapbooks.
Math
Introducing the concept of writing numerals in terms of tens and ones is an important foundational step in understanding the decimal system. It helps learners grasp the concept of place value, Using number cards and coloured coins in a numeracy centre, an activity was conducted which was an effective way to engage learners and reinforce their understanding of numbers, and counting. Introduction of number name 1-One was also done during the session.
The learners were introduced to the concepts of "heavy" and "light" using concrete objects. This involved physically handling objects of varying weights, allowing the learners to feel the difference. By asking learners to identify heavy and light objects, they are applying what they have learned in a practical way.

After the introduction of the community helpers doctor, baker and firefighter, for better understanding learners did an activity to identify, name and sort the tools used by the different community helpers. Learners were asked to think about and draw the tools displayed during the activity which helped them reinforce their understanding and retention of the material.

This week the teachers introduced 'o' and 'u' sounds to the learners. Flashcards and interactive activities at the literacy centre was an effective method for helping learners associate letters with their corresponding sounds. This hands-on approach helped engage the learners and solidify their understanding of phonics.
Later the learners were encouraged to arrange the letters to form words during the session. This activity promotes not only phonemic awareness but also strengthens their spelling skills. To enhance reading learners were encouraged to read three-letter word sentences in their worksheet book.
Math
The math session was engaging and incorporated various activities to help learners grasp numerals and counting concepts. Reciting numerals along with rhythmic exercises was a fun way to reinforce number recognition and sequencing.
Encouraging learners to use their imagination and creativity can be a powerful way to solidify their understanding of abstract concepts like of "above" and "under". Learners were asked to draw objects depicting these positions Furthermore, learners described their drawings in their own innovative way which allowed them to articulate their understanding, reinforcing the concept.

Creating a mini supermarket set up in the foyer is a great way to provide hands-on learning and help them grasp the concept of a supermarket more effectively. A mini set-up of the supermarket was done for better understanding. It's also benefited them to see how different food items are organized and stored in a supermarket, as well as get a glimpse of the billing counter and the people who work there.
This kind of experiential learning can make the theoretical concept of a supermarket much more tangible and relatable for the learners. It also helps them understand the various roles and functions within a supermarket, from the staff who stock the shelves to the cashiers at the billing counter.

The Creative Connector role introduced during the session plays a crucial role in helping learners establish meaningful connections between the characters in a book and real-life incidents. This role encourages critical thinking, analytical skills, and creativity in learners. By linking fictional characters to actual events or situations, learners can gain a deeper understanding of the narrative and its relevance to the world around them.

The session was an engaging and interactive way to teach learners about the solar system. By using torches to illuminate the planets, the learners were able to have a hands-on experience and visually understand the differences in size and colour. How the telescope is used to see planets in much greater detail was explained to the learners. Additionally, the repetition of the planet names likely helped reinforce the information. Reflective mind mapping and drawing can be effective ways to engage young learners and stimulate their creativity and critical thinking skills. Additionally, incorporating brainstorming questions in Sr.Kg classes encouraged active participation and helped students explore their thoughts and ideas.
STREAM
Our Jr kg learners got to explore the phases of the moon and understand the Lunar Cycle. It was wonderful to see that they were able to verbalize and arrange the phases according to their 8 stages.
Sr kg learners were delved into the concept of Gravity. Introducing them to the term "Gravitational force" and the scientist behind the concept through a short story is a creative and engaging approach. The investigation of Gravity through Splat art was a fun and hands-on way for them to further grasp the concept.
Event
Read- A- Book Day
“Read a Book Day" was celebrated on 12th September 2023. The motive of such a celebration was to raise awareness and encourage learners to cultivate a lifelong love of reading. Learners arrived at school dressed in the costume of their favourite character from the book and participated enthusiastically in the event.
The celebration was fortunate and meaningful. Learners were keen to express their reading skills and about the character they liked the most in their book. Their creative costumes and imaginary skills showed their joy, enthusiasm and eagerness to showcase themselves as a good reader and a character in the story.
