Effective Behavior Management in School

At our preschool, we focus on positive behaviour management to create a nurturing and structured learning environment. We set clear expectations, use positive reinforcement, and encourage emotional regulation through gentle guidance. Praise, rewards, and redirection help children develop self-control and social skills. By fostering kindness, patience, and consistency, we empower our little learners to make good choices while feeling safe and supported. Together, we build a happy and respectful classroom. We also recognize that every child is unique, and we tailor our approach to support their individual needs. By encouraging problem-solving, active listening, and empathy, we help children build strong relationships with their peers and teachers. Our classrooms provide a safe space for children to express their emotions and learn from their experiences. We work closely with families to ensure a consistent approach between home and school, reinforcing positive behaviours in all environments. Together, we create a foundation for lifelong learning, resilience, and a love for teamwork and kindness.

CLASSROOM CONNECTION

A strong classroom connection fosters a positive, supportive, and engaging learning atmosphere. When students feel connected to their teacher and peers, they are more motivated, confident, and actively involved in the learning process. This connection is built on trust, respect, and open communication, creating an environment that nurtures holistic development.

NURSERY

ENGLISH

In English, they developed sight word recognition, phonemic awareness, and letter association through interactive flashcards, board activities, and literacy centre exercises. Matching uppercase and lowercase letters, reproducing phonic sounds, and linking letters to pictures reinforced language development, comprehension, and cognitive growth.

MATH

In Math, learners strengthened number recognition, sequencing, and fine motor skills by tracing numbers 6 to 9 on sandpaper, writing them independently, and matching objects to numbers. A creative heart-shaped drawing activity reinforced shape recognition and spatial awareness, fostering cognitive and mathematical development.

THEME

During the Theme session, learners explored "The Big Transport Adventure", enhancing listening, verbal expression, and comprehension through storytelling, puppet theatre, and question-answer discussions. A picture talk on traffic signals refined observation, communication, and cognitive skills. Role-play activities deepened their understanding of transport while boosting creativity, confidence, and social-emotional development. A transportation sorting task reinforced classification skills and fine motor development, ensuring a well-rounded grasp of different modes of transport.

JR.KG

ENGLISH

Our young learners actively engaged in literacy activities to build a strong foundation in reading and writing. They explored vowels (A, E, I, O, U) through a fun “Circle the Vowels” activity, enhancing phonemic awareness and visual discrimination. Mastering the letters ‘y’ and ‘x,’ they practised writing, identified words with the /x/ sound, and creatively decorated ‘x’ using open-ended resources, reinforcing fine motor skills and letter recognition. Learners took a significant step forward by blending and writing CVC words like “dam,” “jam,” and “ham,” improving phonics and decoding skills. They also practised writing uppercase and lowercase letters (Aa–Zz) and engaged in a rhyme for ‘j,’ strengthening auditory discrimination and phonological awareness.

MATH

This week, learners explored number names 4, 5, and 6, practised backwards counting, and reinforced number sequencing through hands-on activities like moulding numbers with clay. They identified and completed after numbers and missing numbers, enhancing problem-solving and logical reasoning.

A shape-sorting activity encouraged classification based on the number of sides, linking geometry with numerical concepts. Drawing objects to match given numbers further strengthened their understanding of quantity relationships and fine motor coordination.

THEME

Learners revisited the importance of water conservation and its sources through audio-visual aids, fostering environmental awareness. A hands-on activity of making a paper plate car enhances creativity and spatial skills. Exploring different rail transport types—Metro, Goods Train, and Passenger Train—reinforced transportation knowledge. A simple cause-and-effect experiment, where they pushed a toy car to observe movement, strengthened their scientific reasoning and problem-solving abilities. These immersive activities enriched learners’ cognitive, language, and environmental awareness, making learning both engaging and meaningful.

ENGLISH

Learners enhanced their language and literacy skills through activities that developed cognitive, language, and fine motor abilities. They arranged words into meaningful sentences, improving sequencing and logical thinking. Recognizing and recalling digraphs boosted their reading fluency, while dictation exercises strengthened vocabulary, listening, and spelling skills.

In class, they practised jumbled sentences, reviewed digraphs, and engaged in dictation to reinforce language skills. Story-based mind mapping helped them visualize and analyze key elements of their reader-book stories, fostering comprehension and creativity. These activities collectively enriched their overall language development.

MATH

Learners developed numerical and logical thinking through activities that enhanced numeracy, problem-solving, and fine motor skills. They compared numbers, arranged them in order, and applied subtraction strategies. They also recalled and used the concepts of before, after, and between numbers.

Hands-on learning with cutouts and flashcards made number comparisons interactive while arranging numbers on the whiteboard reinforced sequencing skills. A notebook-based activity on subtraction and number sequences further solidified their understanding, ensuring a well-rounded grasp of numerical concepts.

THEME

Learners explored ancient and modern communication and technology, enhancing scientific thinking, creativity, and social skills. They identified and compared communication methods, narrated Little Chicken’s Big Heart to develop comprehension, and illustrated different forms of communication. Hands-on activities reinforced their understanding of money, communication, and technology.

Through picture talk and narration, learners improved their speaking and listening skills. Drawing and discussions deepened their grasp of communication methods, while a recap session strengthened real-world awareness. A clay modelling activity made learning about computer parts interactive and engaging.

LITERACY CIRCLE

Through the story "The Sick Dog" learners explored themes of care and compassion while strengthening comprehension and vocabulary. Engaging in discussions encouraged critical thinking and personal connections. A follow-up session with a recap and interactive questions and answers refined their listening, analytical, and communication skills.

Learners enhanced reading, comprehension, and creativity through Buns and Eggs, developing language, cognitive, and artistic skills. They identified key vocabulary, discussed themes, and illustrated characters and settings. Reading sessions reinforced fluency while drawing activities helped visualize the story. Interactive discussions deepened understanding of teamwork, connecting the story’s moral to real-life situations. These activities fostered critical thinking and holistic development.

ART

Nursery
Learners developed fine motor skills, creativity, and sensory exploration through an exciting marble painting activity. Rolling colourful marbles dipped in paint across paper encouraged hand-eye coordination and experimentation with colours and movement. The session fostered self-expression and curiosity, as each child created unique patterns, enhancing their confidence and artistic imagination.

Jr.KG
Learners enhanced creativity, spatial awareness, and cognitive skills through squish painting. By folding and pressing paper with blobs of paint, they discovered symmetry, colour mixing, and cause-and-effect relationships. This hands-on experience nurtured fine motor skills, visual perception, and artistic expression, as they excitedly observed their vibrant patterns and shared their creations, reinforcing social interaction and confidence.

Sr.KG
Learners explored cultural awareness, artistic techniques, and geometric understanding through an introduction to Warli art. They practised drawing human figures using basic shapes, improving fine motor control and visual representation. By illustrating movements like dancing and farming, they connected art with storytelling and daily life, fostering creativity, observation skills, and appreciation for traditional art forms. Their final artworks beautifully reflected the simplicity and rhythm of this ancient tribal art.

STREAM

Nursery
In the STREAM session, learners explored the strength of different column shapes, such as circular, square, and triangular, by testing how much weight each could hold. They learned to use terms like strong, weak, balance, weight, hold, and column, developing critical thinking, observation, and vocabulary. This hands-on activity promoted problem-solving, an understanding of structural concepts, and an introduction to the science of material strength, supporting early engineering and cognitive development.

Jr.KG
Learners identified different weather types and understood daily weather changes in the STREAM session. They used weather-related vocabulary such as sunny, rainy, cloudy, and windy, and learned that weather forecasts predict future conditions. Through creative play and observation, they explored weather patterns and developed language skills, scientific observation, and predictive thinking. This activity fostered curiosity about the environment and enhanced comprehension of daily natural phenomena.

In the STREAM session, learners explored the basic parts of a plant, such as roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits, while understanding their simple functions. They used terms like roots, stem, leaves, flower, fruit, and plant in their descriptions, developing scientific vocabulary, observation skills, and a deeper understanding of plant biology. This hands-on learning fostered cognitive development, fine motor skills, and the ability to make connections between natural elements and their functions.

Nursery
Learners developed observation, cognitive, and language skills while exploring different animals through engaging activities. They identified animals, learned their characteristics and sounds, and enhanced curiosity, creativity, and communication through discussions and interactive games. These activities encouraged early scientific thinking and social-emotional development, making learning about the animal kingdom both enjoyable and educational.

Learners strengthened listening, language, and cognitive skills by singing a lively song about polar animals. Through music and movement, they recognized animals like polar bears, penguins, seals, and walruses while learning about their habitats and behaviours.
