CLASSROOM CONNECTION

Creating a positive and supportive learning environment is essential in preschool settings. Classroom connections help children feel secure and develop a sense of belonging, which is critical for their emotional well-being. These connections nurture essential life skills, including communication, empathy, and problem-solving, benefiting learners throughout their lives.

NURSERY

ENGLISH

This week, learners explored the sounds /x/ and /q/ through creative, hands-on activities that enhanced their phonemic awareness and fine motor skills. For /x/, they used ice cream sticks to form the letter and uncovered an X-ray fish drawing using a magical painting technique. For /q/, they moulded the letter Qq with clay and illustrated quills on art paper. These activities sparked curiosity and reinforced learning through pictures, phonics practice, and an engaging audiovisual story. By the end of the week, learners improved their recognition of the sounds /x/ and /q/ and demonstrated creative expression through art.

MATH
In math sessions, learners participated in a lively color-sorting activity to identify and match purple, black, brown, and white pictures into corresponding jars. This exercise not only enhanced their colour recognition but also supported language development by helping them name the colours accurately. They also reviewed numbers 1 to 10 through sequencing activities and block-building exercises, improving their number recognition, sequencing abilities, and fine motor skills.

The learners were introduced to numbers 8 and 9 through interactive classroom activities. They practised counting objects such as blocks, crayons, and beads to understand the quantities these numbers represent. To solidify their learning, they completed worksheets for both numbers, reinforcing their recognition, value association, and early numeracy concepts.

THEME
This week’s theme focused on modes of transport, including roadways, railways, airways, and waterways. Learners identified vehicles associated with each mode through a shadow-guessing game using audiovisual aids, which they found both exciting and engaging. As a recap, learners creatively expressed their understanding by drawing their favourite modes of transport, such as rockets, boats, cars, and trains. These activities enriched their vocabulary, cognitive skills, and creative expression.

ENGLISH

This week, our young learners embarked on an exciting journey through the alphabet, mastering the letters q, x, and j. Engaging stories and interactive flashcards fueled their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. To inspire creativity, learners drew objects for letters w, v, and y, showcasing their imagination and artistic skills.

Through interactive writing activities, learners explored the magic of letters and words. By tracing, writing, and forming letters, they developed essential fine motor skills, coordination, and creativity. These foundational experiences are shaping them into confident readers, writers, and communicators.

MATH

This week, learners explored the number name Five using letter and number cards and practised counting objects for numbers 39 and 40, recording them in their notebooks. Backward counting was reinforced through the interactive Rocket Countdown activity, while "after numbers" and "between numbers" concepts were practised using worksheets. Learners wrote numbers 1–40 on loose sheets, enhancing their writing and sequencing skills. The star shape was introduced by examining its sides and corners, followed by a recap activity, Identify the Stars on the String and Colour Them. The week concluded with the introduction of the number name Six. Learners developed counting accuracy, spatial understanding, and improved number and shape recognition.

THEME

This week’s theme sessions were filled with engaging activities and creative exploration. Learners recapped road safety rules confidently shared do’s and don’ts, and explored waterways by crafting origami boats with detailed water and scenery. They categorized vehicles into heavy and light types, drew and coloured water transport, and explained traffic signals, enhancing public speaking and road safety awareness.

In a Show & Tell session, learners described their favourite road transport, explored differences between passenger and goods trains, and completed worksheets on modes of transport. Videos and discussions on water conservation fostered awareness of this essential resource. By the end of the week, learners demonstrated improved categorization, creative expression, and public speaking skills, while gaining a deeper understanding of transportation, safety, and conservation.

English language instruction is crucial in preschool education, laying the groundwork for academic, social, and cognitive growth. This week, learners engaged in word-building activities to create smaller words from larger ones, boosting their language skills and confidence. They practised Picture Comprehension by observing images and answering questions in their worksheets. Learners were introduced to beginning blends such as dr, fr, tr, br, and cr, followed by workbook exercises for reinforcement. Topics like "My Friend" and "Months of the Year" were revisited to strengthen learning. By the end of the week, learners demonstrated improved word formation, comprehension skills, and understanding of beginning blends.

MATH
This week, learners explored the concepts of small, smaller, and smallest through hands-on activities with objects, reinforcing size comparison. They practised before and after numbers using a guided worksheet and worked on pattern recognition through drawings and physical objects, solidifying their understanding of mathematical relationships. Learners also wrote number names from 41 to 50 in their notebooks, enhancing their numerical vocabulary and spelling. By the end of the week, learners demonstrated improved size comparison, pattern recognition, and number writing skills.

THEME
The theme sessions this week encouraged imaginative play, creativity, and self-expression. Learners revisited the story "Little Chicken’s Big Heart", reviewed the parts of a computer, and explored the means of communication. Topics such as verbal and non-verbal communication, money, and ancient versus modern communication were also covered.

Learners drew and labelled parts of a computer, actively participating in a role play about "Means of Communication and Technology." To reinforce learning, they repeated the drawing and labelling activity on an art sheet. These sessions effectively integrated literacy, numeracy, science, and art, fostering cognitive, emotional, and social growth.

LITERACY CIRCLE

Nursery
In the literacy circle, learners enhanced their reading skills through the story "Bug on a Rug". By listening to the story, interacting with the words and sounds, and practising using the SAAR application, they developed phonemic awareness, vocabulary, and listening skills. This interactive activity supported early literacy development, improving their word recognition and sound association while fostering a love for reading.

Literacy circles this week were filled with engaging stories, lively conversations, and vocabulary-building activities that nurtured essential language skills. Learners explored the story "The Big Mess", identifying and circling keywords like mud, help, and from. They also enjoyed the heartwarming story "The Sick Dog", which sparked curiosity and imparted valuable lessons about care and kindness. These interactive sessions enriched listening and comprehension skills fostered thoughtful discussions and inspired a love for reading.

Sr.kg
Reading is a powerful tool for building vocabulary and fostering emotional understanding. During Literacy Circle, learners explored "Buns and Eggs" using the SAAR application. They identified familiar words, practised new sounds, and engaged with special words to build confidence and fluency in reading. To reinforce learning, they participated in a word hunt activity, which kept them focused and excited. These interactive sessions enhanced their phonemic awareness, vocabulary, and overall enthusiasm for reading.

STREAM
Jr. KG learners delved into the fascinating world of weather during their STREAM session. They identified different types of weather, such as sunny, rainy, cloudy, and windy, and learned how weather can change daily. Using weather-related vocabulary like hot, cold, sunny, rainy, cloudy, and windy, they discovered that a weather forecast predicts future weather conditions. Through observation and creative play, learners explored weather patterns and even practised predicting the day’s weather.

Sr. KG learners explored the basic parts of a plant in their STREAM session. They identified and learned about roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits, understanding the simple functions of each part—for example, roots absorb water, stems support the plant, and leaves produce food. Learners actively used terms like roots, stem, leaves, flower, fruit, and plant in their discussions, enhancing their understanding of plant anatomy and functions.

ART

Jr KG learners had an exciting time exploring squish painting. They placed blobs of paint on paper, folded it, and pressed it down to create symmetrical, colourful patterns. The excitement grew as they unfolded their papers to reveal magical designs. Learners experimented with a variety of colours, creating imaginative and vibrant artworks. The classroom was filled with joy and excitement as they admired and shared their creations. By the session's end, their colourful masterpieces reflected their creativity and artistic expression.
Sr KG learners were introduced to Warli art, a traditional tribal art form from Maharashtra. They learned about its origins, simplicity, and connection to nature and everyday life. The session focused on creating human figures in the classic Warli style, using basic shapes like circles, triangles, and lines. Learners practised drawing figures in dynamic poses such as dancing, farming, and celebrating, inspired by Warli storytelling. They carefully incorporated minimalistic designs to highlight movement and rhythm. By the end of the session, their artwork beautifully captured the essence of this ancient art form, reflecting their creativity and understanding of the traditional style.

MUSIC

The nursery learners had an exciting time exploring the popular children's song "The Wheels on the Bus." This lively and interactive tune introduced them to various parts of a bus and their functions through its catchy rhythm and playful lyrics. As they sang along, the children enthusiastically acted out the actions described in the song, adding movement and laughter to the session. It was a fun-filled experience that combined music, learning, and creativity, leaving a lasting impression on the young learners.
