Character traits

Character traits play a vital role in the early development of preschoolers, helping to shape their personalities and guide their social interactions. Encouraging traits such as kindness, empathy, responsibility, and perseverance foster a positive and supportive learning environment. These traits not only build healthy relationships but also strengthen a child’s emotional intelligence, allowing them to understand and express feelings appropriately. Developing these character traits also contributes to various learning domains. In the social-emotional domain, children enhance self-regulation and relationship skills, while in the cognitive domain, perseverance and responsibility bolster problem-solving abilities. By nurturing these competencies early, we equip children with the foundation for future academic success and personal growth.

Teachers play a crucial role in validating students’ feelings, promoting self-awareness, and fostering emotional intelligence. This supportive atmosphere helps students manage emotions effectively and fuels a lifelong love for learning.

NURSERY

ENGLISH

The sounds /f/ and /b/ were introduced through phonics, focusing on the soft sounds. Images like fish, fan, and flower helped with /f/ recognition, while ball, bee, and book reinforced /b/. Learners engaged in a bottle-stamping activity for /f/, creating flower prints, and balloon-tapping for /b/, making “buttons.” These activities supported phonics recognition, fine motor skills, coordination, and creativity, spanning Language, Cognitive, and Physical Development domains.

MATH

Colour - Purple

Learners explored purple by blending red and blue paint on their hands and pressing their palms onto paper, creating colourful prints. This hands-on colour mixing enhanced understanding of colour theory, sensory awareness, and fine motor skills within the Visual Arts and Physical Development domains.

Concept – Left and Right

Through the Boogie Woogie dance, learners practised left and right, building spatial orientation, coordination, and body awareness. This rhythmic activity encouraged listening skills, social interaction, and confidence, supporting Social and Physical Development.

Number 6

Learners explored the number 6 by counting blocks and beads, reinforcing number sense with hands-on practice. Worksheets on number recognition supported counting skills and fine motor coordination, fostering Math and Physical Development.

THEME

Roadways

Through a flipbook, learners explored roadways and various vehicles, including emergency vehicles like ambulances, fire trucks, and police cars. This activity supported cognitive development, social awareness, and language skills, enhancing visual recognition and understanding of community safety.

ENGLISH

Language and Literacy Development

Learners strengthened phonetic recognition by exploring letters h, r, m, d, g, o, u, l, with a special focus on “f” and “b” through stories and flashcards. They traced the letters s, a, t, p, i, n, c, k, and e in sand, fostering fine motor skills and spatial awareness. Two-letter words like am, an, as, and at were practised with clay, supporting sound recognition, blending, and segmenting skills. CVC words (mat, cat, bat) were built with letter selection games. A new letter, “z,” was introduced through creative activities with pipe cleaners and sticks to enhance letter formation and phonics skills.

MATH

In our recent session, students deepened their understanding of shapes and patterns through engaging hands-on activities. These activities culminated in students creatively replicating shapes on art sheets, enhancing their spatial awareness, creativity, and attention to detail. The session included a recap of the "top and bottom" concepts, supported by a worksheet that reinforced students' grasp of positional understanding through practical application. We used interactive flashcards to introduce the pentagon shape, creating an engaging learning experience. This approach enabled students to identify and distinguish the pentagon from other shapes confidently.

THEME

We introduced roadways, along with both ancient and modern modes of transport, through engaging audio-visual aids and flashcards. Exploring how people have travelled throughout history—from walking and riding horses to using trains and cars—provided the children with a deeper understanding of the world. It also allowed them to see how travel has evolved over time and why people move from place to place.By studying these various forms of transportation, learners were able to connect with history and understand how it shapes their lives today. To make the learning experience more meaningful, the children were encouraged to share their own personal experiences with different modes of transport.

Language and Literacy Development

Teaching “one” and “many” helped children grasp counting and quantities, building numeracy skills. Vocabulary and critical thinking were expanded through compositions like “My Friend,” reinforcing naming words through sorting games. Introducing blends and magic “e” made reading enjoyable, enhancing phonics and word decoding.

MATH

Cognitive Development

The concept of “full” and “empty” was introduced using concrete objects, developing pre-math skills applicable to daily life. Recap sessions on number names, addition, sequencing, and skip counting strengthened cognitive and vocabulary skills.

THEME

Social-Emotional Development

Through stories, picture talks, and interactive sessions, learners recapped key topics, boosting social, emotional, and communication skills. Show-and-tell presentations enhanced confidence, self-expression, and vocabulary, creating a supportive and engaging learning environment.

SHOW AND TELL

A "Show and Tell" activity was conducted where learners showcased their personalized flipbooks titled "All About Me." Each student took turns presenting the various elements described in their flip books to the class, speaking about their interests, hobbies, and personal traits. This activity not only enhanced their public speaking and communication skills but also significantly boosted their confidence as they shared in front of their peers. Through these presentations, learners expanded their vocabulary, improved sentence structure, and developed expressive language skills. Additionally, the creative process of making the flip book encouraged personal reflection and self-expression, while the interactive nature of the session fostered a supportive classroom environment where learners could connect with each other on a personal level.

LITERACY CIRCLE

SR.KG

Reading aloud supports word recognition, comprehension, fluency, and motivation. Learners engaged in exciting reading sessions. The girl and the boy sparked their curiosity and fostered essential skills. They were excited and actively participated, which shows they are developing both a love for reading and essential learning skills.

STREAM

This week, our nursery learners explored weather and stability through interactive activities. They identified weather types like sunny, rainy, and cloudy using flashcards and completed a worksheet matching weather to appropriate clothing, enhancing cognitive and language skills. They also built structures with clay and toothpicks, experimenting with shapes to understand stability, and promoting creativity and physical development.

Jr. KG learners practised hand-eye coordination by stacking and balancing cups, learning about balance and structure. They experimented with different stacking methods and worked in teams to build tall, stable structures, enhancing communication and teamwork.

Sr. KG learners identified animals and their young, such as cats and kittens, expanding their vocabulary with terms like "calf" and "fawn." They observed how baby animals resemble their parents and learned about camouflage, exploring how animals blend into their environments for protection.

SPORTS

Nursery

In this yoga session, the children engaged in Seated Back Exercises. While sitting on the floor, they performed gentle movements and stretches that activated their back and core muscles. This activity focused on developing stability, coordination, and mindfulness, while also promoting relaxation.

Jr. KG

This week, the children practiced the Cobra Pose! This engaging and simple pose helped them build strength, flexibility, and focus, all while enjoying themselves. It was a wonderful way to introduce young learners to yoga in a playful setting.

Sr. KG

Pyramid Yoga Formation was a fun and creative way to introduce children to yoga. In this activity, the children created pyramid-like shapes using their bodies. The formation encouraged teamwork, balance, coordination, and flexibility. It also helped improve concentration and relaxation as they engaged in simple yoga poses.

ART

Nursery

Collage

We introduced new techniques of collage-making. The learners used tools like scissors and glue, cutting square shapes and arranging them to create colourful patterns. Their work was inspired by the vibrant style of Alma Thomas.

Sand Art

The learners explored sand art using a light tablet with sand spread across it. They doodled in the sand, creating beautiful light effects underneath. The children enjoyed making up stories while doodling, making the experience both imaginative and exciting.

Sr. KG

Nature Walk

The learners went on a nature walk where they collected fallen leaves, twigs, and petals. They created nature wristbands by attaching these natural items to strips of tape, exploring the textures and colours up close. After the walk, they observed their collected items and doodled them in their art books, learning to appreciate and capture the beauty of nature through drawing.

Math Marathon

This week, our preschoolers dove into a Math Marathon filled with interactive, hands-on activities designed to build foundational math skills. Each day introduced new concepts in fun and engaging ways, guiding our young learners on an exciting journey of discovery.

Children’s Day Celebration

Our preschool celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm, creating lasting memories for our little ones. Teachers began with a heartfelt introduction about the importance of the day. The celebration continued with a Fancy Dress activity, where children dressed up as their favourite characters—from superheroes to fairytale figures—bringing imagination to life with joy and confidence. A Tattoo Corner added extra fun, allowing children to choose from colourful temporary tattoos. The event’s energy soared with a Zumba dance session and exciting games, filling the day with laughter, excitement, and unforgettable moments for everyone.
