At Kanakia Kids we are committed to fostering a holistic learning environment that nurtures the academic success of our young learners. Our approach is rooted in play-based, experiential learning, where children are encouraged to explore concepts in creative and hands-on ways. From exploring phonics and early math skills to engaging in arts and sensory activities, every experience is designed to ignite curiosity and build a strong foundation for lifelong learning. This cycle, our focus has been on integrating cognitive development with physical and emotional well-being, recognizing that true academic success is a blend of knowledge, skills, and social-emotional growth. Our young learners have shown remarkable progress as they engage in activities that enhance fine motor skills, creative expression, problem-solving, and critical thinking. As we reflect on their accomplishments, we are excited about the future steps in their academic journey and look forward to continuing this enriching experience together.

Learners are showing increasing enthusiasm and energy as they engage with new concepts. Teachers are fostering a positive classroom atmosphere by making learning fun and balancing play with a variety of educational activities to build strong teacher-student connections.

SUBJECT FEATURE

Horticulture: Growing with Nature

Our horticulture program brings nature into the hands of our preschoolers. Through interactive sessions, children explore the wonders of plant life, from watering and observing plants to learning about their growth. These activities cultivate curiosity, responsibility, and a love for nature. By nurturing plants, our young learners develop essential life skills such as patience, empathy, and environmental awareness, all while having fun and staying engaged in hands-on learning.

NURSERY

ENGLISH

Learners were introduced to the sound /h/ while having fun, joyfully hopping like frogs and repeating the sound. They crafted houses with a paper-folding activity, enhancing their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination and reinforced letter formation by tracing the letter with their fingertips on worksheets.

MATH

This week, learners practised counting from 1 to 10 while hopping into hula hoops, strengthening their number sequence skills and cognitive development. They were also introduced to the shape square through a rhyme and created their own squares using colourful popsicle sticks, reinforcing shape recognition.

THEME

Learners delved into the theme "My Friendly Neighborhood," exploring different types of homes like buildings and bungalows. Using flashcards, they identified and classified homes, confidently naming the type of building they live in, deepening their understanding of different types of homes.

JR.KG

ENGLISH

This week our Jr.Kg learners explored the fascinating world of lines, curves, and a new letter, “h”. To make the learning experience more tactile, the children used clay to form the standing, sleeping, and slanting lines. This activity reinforced their understanding of these lines and enhanced their fine motor skills. We then revisited mountain lines and curves, the children created these lines on a full art sheet using paint and brushes, focusing on the formation of hump and bump curves, as well as mountain lines. Our week concluded with introducing the letter “h.” Using phonic sounds, flashcards, and a captivating story.

MATH

In math, learners explored numbers 16 and 17 through hands-on counting activities using objects like popsicle sticks and pom-poms. These activities strengthened their counting skills and promoted teamwork. Additionally, learners practised writing numbers in their notebooks, and the teacher introduced "after numbers" using flashcards for pre-assessment.

THEME

Learners were introduced to the roles of community helpers, fostering an understanding of teamwork and appreciation for different professions. A special focus was placed on doctors, helping children understand their responsibilities and building positive attitudes towards healthcare.

SR.KG

ENGLISH

Learners practised composition writing by expressing themselves in a piece titled "Myself." This exercise helped them develop language skills, organize their thoughts, and use appropriate vocabulary, punctuation, and grammar.

MATH

During the math session, learners were introduced to skip counting, a foundational skill that enhances number sense, calculation fluency, and pattern recognition. To reinforce their understanding, learners engaged in a fun and interactive hopscotch game, which leveraged their prior knowledge of the game to build connections. This activity not only strengthened their mathematical concepts but also promoted physical development through movement and play.

THEME

Learners explored the benefits of indoor and outdoor games, including improved physical and mental health, social skills, and life lessons. A narrative about a coach highlighted the importance of mentorship for success, enhancing learners' language, vocabulary, creativity, and critical thinking. These stories also sparked new ideas and perspectives.

LITERACY CIRCLE

Jr.Kg

In our recent literacy circle, Jr.Kg learners participated in the "Number Ears" game to enhance phonemic awareness and spelling accuracy. The children identified sounds in simple words like “cat” and gradually moved to more complex words. This activity improved their listening skills, reduced spelling errors, and boosted their confidence in reading and spelling. Enhanced phonemic awareness, improved spelling accuracy, and sharpened listening skills, creating a strong literacy foundation.

Sr.Kg

During the literacy circle session, students summarized keywords from their previous word search and illustrated characters from the story "The Animals." These activities enhanced their language, literacy, and cognitive skills, promoting memory retention, visual recognition, and concentration.

HORTICULTURE

Jr.Kg

Gardening offers children a hands-on way to learn about science and nature. During this cycle, learners planted carrot cuttings and discovered plant growth basics, the role of organic materials, and how to care for their plants, engaging all their senses.

Sr.Kg

This week, learners engaged in horticulture by sowing marigold seeds and learning about their size, texture, and fragrance. This hands-on activity deepened their understanding of plant cultivation and the art of gardening.

STREAM

Nursery

Nursery learners explored natural pigments by transferring colors from flowers and leave onto fabric or paper. By striking the flowers with a hammer, they observed how force changes the appearance and transfers pigments, sparking discussions about colours in nature and cause and effect.

Jr. KG

Jr.Kg learners were introduced to the solar system, learning to recognize and name some planets and the sun. They discovered that planets vary in size and are far apart from one another. New space-related vocabulary such as "planet," "orbit," and "stars" expanded their knowledge.

Sr. KG

Sr.Kg learners explored gravity by observing how objects fall and understanding that gravity pulls them toward Earth. Through a splat art activity, they visualized a world without gravity and expressed their creativity while grasping the concept of gravitational force.

ART

Nursery- Visual Art (Creativity and Fine Motor Skills)

In our recent visual art session, young artists engaged in squish painting using paintbrushes and poster colours. This hands-on activity introduced them to the basics of painting while allowing them to explore colour and texture creatively. Squish painting was a huge success with our nursery children, who had fun laying another sheet of paper over their painted creations and squishing it to reveal vibrant, textured artwork. This exercise not only fostered creativity but also enhanced their fine motor skills and artistic expression.

SPORTS

Nursery

Nursery learners enjoyed a fun game involving rings and cones. After observing the teacher's demonstration, each child took turns playing the game. The activity brought joy and excitement as they actively participated and improved their motor skills.

Jr. Kg

In Jr. KG, learners engaged in warm-up exercises and running races to improve physical fitness, coordination, and flexibility. These activities laid the foundation for healthy habits and physical development.

Sr. Kg

This week, Sr. KG learners eagerly participated in a badminton game. The teacher demonstrated how to hold the racket properly and explained the basics of the game. Learners then took turns hitting the ball with their partners, enhancing their coordination and teamwork.
