Classroom Connection

As our learners step into the classroom for the first time for another year, establishing strong connections is at the heart of our approach. From the moment our learners walk through the door, they are greeted with warm smiles and a nurturing atmosphere. Our goal is to create a space where every learner feels happy, safe and secure. To help children get to know each other, we started with fun icebreaker activities. Games like Bingo and Friendship Circle encourage learners to introduce themselves and learn about their classmates in a playful setting. The beginning of the school year is an exciting time filled with new opportunities for learning and growth. By focusing on building strong classroom connections, we set the stage for a successful and enjoyable year for all our learners.

Nursery

English

The beginning of an exciting journey for the new academic year was filled with fun, laughter, and endless discoveries as Kanakia Kids welcomed their Nursery learners with great zeal. The nursery is a buzz with excitement. The sound /s/ was introduced and most learners were seen enthusiastically repeating the sound and could associate pictures with the letter. A focused scribbling activity was also included where the learners related the picture of the Sun with the sound /s/ and scribbled within the given outline as focused scribbling provides a more structured approach, encouraging children to concentrate on specific shapes, lines, or patterns and promoting cognitive development by stimulating problem-solving skills and spatial awareness.

Math

Oral counting of numbers is the cornerstone of early math skills, laying a sturdy foundation for more complex concepts. Introduction of numbers 1 to 5 was done in the class, learners did oral counting of the numbers in the sequence. An activity was conducted where learners enjoyed pouring water into the tub using a paper cup, while doing the activity they counted from 1 to 5 and the teacher encouraged learners to count each pour aloud, reinforcing the sequence from 1 to 5. This activity developed a deeper understanding of numerical concepts, such as sequencing and quantity, and fine motor control, helping to strengthen the muscles in your child's hands and fingers.

Theme

Thematic learning allows children to delve deeply into topics across different subjects, creating engaging and memorable educational experiences that enhance critical thinking and creativity. When learning about self-awareness, children explore aspects such as gender and age. The teacher used flashcards to introduce the concepts of "boy" and "girl," asking learners to share their names and identify whether they are a boy or a girl. This interactive approach will help children understand and articulate their identities.

Jr. Kg.

English

This week our Jr.Kg learners embarked on an exciting journey of creativity and discovery as they delved into the world of patterns. From slanting lines to sleeping lines, from standing lines to curve lines, our Jr.KG learners showcased their artistic flair and fine motor skills. They traced each pattern with precision and joy, which helped strengthen their hand-eye coordination and prepared them for more advanced writing tasks. Learners also participated in a lively recap session where they identified letters and articulated their corresponding sounds. Through these engaging activities, our young learners not only honed their motor skills but also developed a strong foundation in early literacy and writing skills.

Math

The teacher introduced the numbers 1 and 2 using flashcards and audio-visual aids. Learners traced the numbers on the sand, which made the learning experience tactile and interactive. The red colour was introduced with flashcards. Learners enjoyed observing the classroom and identifying red objects. They were able to identify and sort these red-colored objects effectively. As a recap session, learners drew red objects on an art sheet, reinforcing their understanding of the colour.

The introduction of the square shape was done using flashcards and square objects. The teacher provided Popsicle sticks for learners to form a square on a tinted sheet, which they then stuck in place. This activity was not only enjoyable but also helped develop their fine motor skills.

Theme

The introduction of the sense organ—the eyes—was conducted in the classroom. Learners were taught about the importance of the eyes as our organs of vision and ways to take good care of them, such as eating healthy foods like carrots. For the activity, learners engaged in a 'blindfold game' with the teacher, experiencing firsthand the importance of eyes. The benefits of this blindfold activity include enhancing sensory awareness and practising early literacy skills. Sight games help children recognize words, patterns, and objects, thereby aiding in memory development.

The learners found the activities both enjoyable and educational, which reinforced their understanding of the vital role sense organs play in our daily lives.

Sr.Kg

A phonics recap session was conducted to reinforce sound proficiency. Learners participated in the "Roll the Dice" game to enhance their phonics skills engagingly. Learners recognized the sounds of different letters and crafted them using clay, which helped in associating sounds with letter shapes. Later, they practised recognizing and writing uppercase letters using crayons.

These activities not only bolster literacy skills but also aid in developing fine motor and cognitive skills, laying a strong foundation for future learning.

Math

Math helps children develop essential skills they need to succeed in school and life.

This week during Math sessions, our learners started with counting numbers from 1 to 40, accompanied by actions. They actively participated in recognizing numbers and placed numbered objects on a chart containing numbers from 1 to 40. Additionally, we introduced primary colours (red, yellow, and blue) through an action-based activity. In the next session, learners played a game called 'Guess the Shape' to recognize 2D shapes using a PowerPoint presentation. The learners engaged in this week’s activities with great enthusiasm.

Theme

This week during our theme session, the focus was on identifying and understanding body parts. Learners explained the different functions of external body parts while arranging them. They played action games by rolling dice and performing the corresponding actions. A recap of external body parts was done through a game of "Simon Says," where learners followed commands like "Simon says touch your eyes." They enjoyed playing this game and demonstrated great enthusiasm.

Internal Body Parts: To introduce internal body parts, the stomach was presented with the help of a video. Learners were given flashcards of different food items and asked to sort them into categories of food that are good for the stomach. This hands-on activity helped reinforce their learning in a fun and interactive way.
