String Phone
Sound waves can travel through air, solids, and liquids. Sound waves are created when sounds make vibrations in the air. K1 Learners made a string phone to investigate how sound travels through string and air. They learned that when they speak into the cup, the vibrations are transmitted into the string. The vibrations continue to travel through the string, as long as it is held taut, to the receiving cup. There the vibrations are transmitted to the air in the cup, around the listener’s ear, allowing the whisper to be heard. Learners also learned that if the string is kept tight, the sound waves will travel. If the string is loose, the sound is less. This is because the loose string causes the vibrations to travel all around rather than directly down the string.
Sports
Hip Hop Hunt!
An exercise integrating English with P.E. was conducted as a letter hunt game for the learners where they had to run towards the called letters, recognize and pick the correct letter by themselves. Such an exercise helps the littles ones to enhance their gross motor skills while also developing their literacy skills.
Math
Yellow colour
Excited learners were learning about the yellow colour. Each learner went around the classroom to find 1 yellow object and tell the teacher. Learners used a book and crayons to think and draw anything they know which is yellow in colour. All the learners spoke and pointed out different yellow colour objects like Yellow Chair, Table, Crayon, Uniform, Butterfly, etc. They drew sun, lemon, mango, flower and many other things.
