Ensuring Appropriate Experiences and Opportunities.

Children in preschools should be given adequate and regular opportunities for engaging in interesting and age-appropriate outdoor play activities involving larger muscle development, such as catching, running, jumping, skipping, balancing, etc. Ensuring appropriate experiences and opportunities for preschoolers involves creating a supportive and enriching environment that fosters their holistic development. Children are challenged to develop coordination between brain and body with projects such as threading beads, drawing, or cutting with scissors. These activities will help them explore various options available to them and remain actively engaged. Exposing preschoolers to a variety of experiences helps them develop an understanding and appreciation for different cultures, traditions, and perspectives, promoting cultural competence. Children are unique and holistic learners, thriving within environments that support their individual and diverse motivations, interests and needs. They require a wealth of possibilities within varied contexts, and this is best supported within stimulating and challenging environments that value exploration and play.

Providing appropriate experiences and opportunities for preschoolers is essential for fostering their holistic development, encompassing cognitive, social, emotional, language, and motor skills while preparing them for future academic success and personal growth.

Classroom Connection

Learners are enjoying their time in school. They are getting more enthusiastic day by day. Their sports practice is helping them to develop a friendly relationship with their teacher. This joy and enthusiasm are helping the learners to explore and express themselves in a better way. The teachers are also able to recognize their abilities and potential in a more detailed way. This atmosphere in the classroom enhances teaching teaching-learning process which gradually develops holistic development among learners.

English

The goal of alphabet recognition and matching is to enhance letter recognition skills, which are crucial for reading and writing development.

Learners were given the activity to match the uppercase letter to the lowercase and also matched the letter to its associated picture with recognition.

Also, a rhyme on Transportation was drilled daily in class where the learners were taught to recite it aloud with actions.

Math

Teaching the child about number recognition is important, as it helps them develop the fundamental skills that they will need to progress in future. Our Nursery learners were introduced to the number 9 with value by showing concrete objects. Later, the teacher distributed half art sheet paper to the learners and was asked to draw 9 objects with the help of crayons. A recapitulation session was conducted for the topics left/right and start/stop by playing Boogie Woogie song and Start/Stop flashcards. The teacher also introduced a new color which was Black color by showing different concrete objects to the learners. Later, a recap session of counting and matching the pictures with value till 9 was conducted by the teacher. The sessions conducted were very interactive and informative.

Teaching transportation to nursery kids is crucial for various reasons. It helps them understand the world around them, develops vocabulary, promotes cognitive skills, and fosters a sense of independence. A recap of airways and roadways was done. The learners crafted a hot air balloon using materials like foil paper, tinted paper and sketch pens. This activity helps develop various skills in learners, including fine motor skills, creativity and spatial awareness.

English

Learners formed the words using the letters, on the centre table activity, and learners arranged the letter on their own to form a word, for example, it is a big fat cat. Also, learners have drawn the objects of letters f, b, z, w, v, y, and, q on an art sheet paper. Introduced the letter J through flashcards and audio-visual, and learners traced the letter J in the sand. Recap of blending, reading and writing the two-letter word on the board and learners wrote the same on the art sheet paper. Learners can confidently read and understand the sentences when they identify the two-letter words they know. Recap of vowels and consonants. Learners were able to find the vowels and circle the letter on art sheet paper

Math

It is crucial for the cognitive development of pre-primary students to be taught concepts such as "before," "after," and "between". It contributes to the development of a foundation for knowledge of spatial relationships, chronological order, and sequencing—all crucial abilities for success in academics later on.

For young learners, arranging things between others is an essential practice since it fosters fine motor skills, cognitive development, and spatial awareness. Their understanding of ideas like position, order, and sequencing is improved by this practical experience. Furthermore, it strengthens the basis for mathematical thinking and improves problem-solving skills. Placing objects and then numbers on the middle table helped to create a well-rounded learning outcome overall by involving both physical

Literacy circle

Literacy plays a crucial role in the overall development of young minds. To enhance the skills of learners, teachers introduce the concept of 'cold and hot' from the story "Ants at the Camp," and learners play the role of 'Word Wizard' to search for the concept 'cold and hot ' and circle in their book.

To enhance the reading of two-letter words, the teacher makes learners search two letter words and circle them the same. They play the role of 'Word Wizard '.

English

English plays a vital role in improving a child's vocabulary it builds a solid foundation by understanding basic grammar rules and gradually progressing to advanced it improves listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills rhyming words are words that have similar ending sounds, creating pleasing and repetitive sound patterns.

This week in English, rhyming words were done. Writing rhyming words in the notebook helped learners create lists of rhyming words enhancing their language skills. Later oral blend words were also done using flashcards/objects activity. Learning blend words is important as it enhances their phonics skills, aids in pronunciation, and improves overall reading and spelling abilities. Using play made the session more engaging and enjoyable.

Math

Subtraction is crucial for preschoolers as it lays the foundation for understanding mathematical concepts. It helps develop basic number sense, problem-solving skills, and logical reasoning. Learners did pictorial subtraction in math notebooks. Writing numbers in sequence is crucial in math, which also helps in learning many concepts. Learners also wrote Numbers from 1-99 in their notebooks. Learners did a worksheet on small, smaller, and smallest for proper recapitulation.

Incorporating themes into our curriculum proves beneficial for creating targeted and interesting lessons that enable our learners to acquire new skills. Continuing our exploration of communication, the teacher conducted a review of the methods and types of communication by prompting thought-provoking questions. Additionally, learners created a BME (Beginning, Middle, End) chart based on the story The Bear and the Bee. These charts serve as valuable tools to gauge the comprehension of the students and provide insights into their perspectives on the story.

Reading in preschool is a physical activity that adds a  spark in kids' brains. The benefits of reading to children include helping them build language skills, learn about the world, and develop empathy and emotional awareness. Reading together also provides an opportunity to connect. This week from the Fitzroy reader book close reading of the story The Fish was done. Later learners discussed in small groups the story and reflected on the learning through a student-led collaborative strategy which allowed students to talk about the story deepening their understanding of the story, and recognising that reading is fun!
