There are a handful of snow sports rental shops in Madarao and Tangram Ski Circus.
These are the ones we recommend looking into before your visit.
Shirakaba Rental
Shirakaba Rental
Location: Connected to the main hotel. Shirakaba is directly next to the beginner slopes. If you are staying in the Kogen Hotel, they have a large locker room for accessing your gear easily in the mornings.
Notes: Resort-run shop. Shirakaba has the largest quantity of gear in Madarao. Mostly standard equipment with access to some performance options.
Ticket machines can be found here, as well as a cafe with views of the mountain and beginner slopes.
(Can be very busy in the mornings as the hotel connects directly into the cafe and rental shop)
Chill Madarao
Chill Madarao
Location: A 20 metre walk across the street from the beginner slopes. Chill offers a valet service for skis and snowboards. For no added cost they will keep the gear in house and place them out on racks every morning for you to collect.
Notes: English-speaking shop with a wide range: regular / performance / powder skis & snowboards, adult & kids gear, boots, helmets, and clothing. A wide range of gear and the most personalised boot fitting on the mountain.
(A popular spot with reliable equipment, they can run low on stock during peak season so booking ahead is advised)
Miyuki SnowSports By Active Life
Miyuki SnowSports By Active Life
Location: Operated out of Xplore Hotel, around a 100 metre walk to the beginner slopes.
Notes: English-speaking shop with a decent range of gear. They have a selection of standard & performance skis and snowboards.
A point of difference they have is having helmets for sale.
(A valet service is offered to those staying in Active Life hotels)
Tangram Madarao Tokyu Resort
Tangram Madarao Tokyu Resort
Location: Located in the lobby of the Tangram Madarao Tokyu Resort at the base of the Tangram slopes.
Tangram is a short drive from Madarao but the slopes are connected by lifts.
Notes: Like Shirakaba, this rental shop is connected to the hotel and has a large amount of stock. Less personalised of a fitting, but if the mountain is busy, gear can always be found.
(Ideal easy location if staying in Tangrams main hotel)
Kaizoku Colective - By The Brueys
Kaizoku Colective - By The Brueys
Location: A quick 2 minute walk towards the slopes from the Brueys.
Notes: Tangrams newest rental shop. Offering premium and performance rentals from K2 and RIDE, high-performance gear from top brands, and a bespoke snowboard collection curated by Bruey himself. Explore their retail lineup from Oakley, Stance, Coal, and exclusive Kaizoku merch, and keep your setup in top shape with professional waxing and tuning.

(Gloves and Goggles are available for purchase at all four rental shops.
They are not available for rent anywhere on the mountain for hygiene reasons)
