InstaGeylang Photo Challenge 2024
The InstaGeylang Photo Challenge 2024 is organized by Kamal Arts Ltd (a non-profit arts tenant of the National Arts Council) in partnership with Geylang Serai Cultural Belt and Wisma Geylang Serai.
This competition is independent of Instagram™ and its parent company. Social media platform terms apply to respective posts.
Open to all Singapore residents, regardless of age. Minors under 18 require parental consent for prize collection.
Students must hold a valid Transitlink Student Pass and use the #student hashtag.
Deadline: April 30th, 2024, 11:59 PM SGT.
Submit by posting a photo on a public Instagram account tagged with @instaGeylang.
No entry fee.
Capture the unique spirit of Geylang Serai through its activities and places.
Photos must be taken within or near the Geylang Serai Cultural Belt (refer to map below).
Photos must be original and captured recently (since May 1st, 2023).
Include the #InstaGeylang hashtag in the caption.
Photographers are responsible for the originality and authenticity of their submissions.
The organiser holds no liability for copyright infringement.
Photographer views expressed are solely theirs and do not reflect the organiser's or other participants' views.
A panel of photography professionals will judge entries based on:
Impact: Elicits emotional response and tells a story.
Creativity: Uniqueness and original perspective.
Technical Merit: Composition, exposure, lighting, focus, and overall quality.
Relevance to Theme: Captures the essence of Geylang Serai and its cultural identity.
Judges' decisions are final.
Awarded at the exhibition opening ceremony:
1st Winner: $1,000 cash
3 Runners-up: $300 cash each
2 Student Category Winners: $200 cash each
Most Popular (likes): $300 cash
40 finalists: Memento and exhibition display
Prize details:
Finalists contacted via Instagram DM for additional information.
High-resolution photo required for final selection and exhibition printing.
Prizes claimed in person with proof of identity.
The organiser reserves the right to manage unclaimed prizes.
Organizer's decisions are final and binding.
Permission is granted by the finalists to the organiser for reproducing images with credits to the photographer for the purpose of promoting and documenting this project with no remuneration to the photographer or any party.
