Bold Yet seldom told

Crow Wing Community Stories

Book Launch - April 7th

This collection of stories, poems, and art emerged from 100 Community Conversations, sparked by the recognition that decision-makers often lose touch with those they serve. We interviewed individuals closest to the issues but far from decision-making power. This included those with lived experiences of mental illness, addiction, disability, and incarceration, as well as Black, Brown, and LGBTQ+ individuals. Sometimes, we spoke with their parents, grandparents, or caretakers.

Through these conversations, we experienced an "empathy stretch," gaining insight and compassion for those often stereotyped or marginalized. Recognizing the potential to enhance our community's mental and social-emotional well-being, we decided to share these marginalized voices.

Some parts of this volume may be challenging for readers, as the content is sometimes raw and unfiltered. It's crucial to remember that the authors are expressing their personal perspectives and memories, which are valid and real to them.

Bold Yet Seldom Told is our book and video series, created to foster a more compassionate and inclusive community. We hope these stories, poems, and artworks provoke thought and emotion, encouraging readers to discuss their reactions with others. Through honest dialogue about our similarities and differences, we can cultivate healthier connections and communities.
