The Kako Foundation is bringing innovative music education programs that transform and empower the lives of children and youth in Haiti and the US.
Kathy Bogen is a founding member and former Executive Director of the Myers-Wilkins Community School Collaborative, a 24-year-old non-profit organization dedicated to providing dynamic cultural, academic, and life-skills learning opportunities for children, families, and neighbors of Duluth’s Hillside and Western schools and neighborhoods. Her professional background in Arts Education, youth development, group facilitation, health care, and community organizing provides a well-rounded skill set for developing holistic approaches to preparing young people for a lifetime of positive choices.
Kathy is a member of Full Circle Community Institute, a consulting group serving organizations statewide that seek to build effective multicultural leadership. Her work with FCCI involves designing and leading arts-based learning focused on leadership development and personal expression.
Currently retired, she continues her work in the community as a Board member and Secretary for the Kako Foundation which sponsors innovative music education for young people in Duluth and Haiti. She is an active volunteer with the Mentor North program where she has mentored young people for 21 years.
She is the Chair for the Cook County Coalition of Lake Associations which is dedicated to preserving and protecting the waters and shorelands of Cook County Minnesota.
