about the university

Kakatiya University was established on 19th August, 1976 to fulfill the aspirations of the Telangana people for higher education. It is located in the historical city, Warangal, the erstwhile seat of the Kakatiya rulers. The founding of the University was in fact a historic event that herladed a new era in the realms of the higher education of this region. The erstwhile Post-Graduate centre of Osmania University was upgraded and named Kakatiya University. The University reaccredited with “A” Grade by NAAC, Bangalore on 12th September, 2017 with higher CGPA 3.36.

About the department:

The Department of Zoology was established as a part of the Post-Graduate Center of Osmania University in the year 1968. The Department of Zoology adopted the syllabus prepared by the UGC cirriculam development committee for our PG students. The faculty generated funds through various research funding agencies (UGC, DBT, DST, CSIR TSCOST, ICMR, NON-SAP). Four teachers in this department have bagged best teacher awards of the state government.
