Create

Here are a variety of tasks you can create. Try and create one or two over the next couple of weeks. You are welcome to continue in your own time.

#1 Create Word Art or Puzzle

Identify at least 25 keywords from our Voyage and Navigation topic, include words from English, Te Reo Maori and Pasifika.


Turn these words into word art or into a word cloud. Choose a shape that best reflects the topic...or a word puzzle to show what they mean


#2 Create a Fact File

Use book creator or google slides To Create a fact file about A Waka, a Sailing Ship, or an Interesting person, who voyaged to New Zealand in the early years.

  • Include a picture or drawing of the vessel or person

  • List the sorts of things people took on the boat or waka with them.

  • Describe some of the challenges on board

  • Include a google My Map to show where the boat came from and where in nz it landed

#3 Create a Time Line

Use Google draw to Create a TimeLine showing when and where different peoples arrived in new Zealand. You may like to add other significant world events going on at the time.

#4 Create a Stop Motion Animation

Animate and narrate a story of a journey to new zealand. you may like to base it on one of the personal accounts from te ara encyclopedia, on the experiences of your own ancestors, or on a fictional character based on a true story, like the Tapa waka Story. you may wish to complete a storyboard first.



#5 Create a digital Pepeha or Mihi


Recreate your pepeha on slides, on Scratch, or try out the Mihi Maker on gamefroot, which has a mihi maker tutorial you can follow.
