Reading Class
The Reading Class adheres to the principle of "Learning through Reading" and selects a rich and diverse range of reading materials tailored to students' intellectual development. These materials include various texts and genres, such as written texts, films, plays, photographs, and paintings, covering literature, popular science, works, media information, and practical/lifestyle information. Through reading different types of materials, students acquire knowledge, construct meaning, and engage in interdisciplinary thinking.
Chinese Reading Class
Collaborating with the Chinese Department to build a foundation in reading, this class emphasizes sparking interest and teaching basic reading strategies. It uses various texts to teach, covering themes such as science, history, sports, technology, arts, global perspectives, and social issues, encouraging students to make simple connections across disciplines. By reading and analyzing diagrams and textual content, students extract key information, learn about the historical background and functional roles of landmarks like the Forbidden City gates, develop reading comprehension skills, and promote interdisciplinary learning.
